Okay - this week's Bierfest is up and running! Are you ready?

Name the film and scene (what is happening?)

Old URL

The first person who correctly guesses the movie and and scene, and posts the answer in this thread wins $50 worth of Bavarian beer delivered to your doorstep, or $50. (US players may have to take the $$).

Ready - set - go!!

To start the guessing!

Wild guess..

Film: Halloween

Scene: Michael Myers chases Laurie in the house and it ends with him faling to the ground. Then he's disappeared.

As I said..wild guess. :p

Movie....Westworld. Scene with Yul Brynner in the street. I should know this, lol. But that's just a guess.

Or...how about I, Robot with Will Smith. Scene with the robot army.

Nope.
Bring it!:p I am the horror master!
Then get busy. :p

Hint - the composer/conductor of the background (foreground) music is very famous.

Now I just made it easy for everyone

I cant Im still at work:mad:
Tell your boss you need to go home - you forgot to feed the goldfish.

is it supposed to be only music?

if so im guessing star wars where the crazy alien(the ones that look like robot insects mixed) army marches in for battle
Nope.

But you are getting semi close. It has to do with a battle. Nothing to do with Star Wars though. :D

The Battle for Thermopylae, in the movie 300?

Or how bout one of the famous battles from the LOTR trilogy?

I think of battles, I think of Braveheart, but it doesn't sound right for that. Or maybe the Battle for Germania from Gladiator? And then there's Troy, lol. Is it a horror movie, or historical? Fact or fiction?

I dunno but it sounds like something is pissed and someone is getting ready to get their ass kicked..... just a guess

The Wizard of Oz
when the suited monkeys are going after Dorothy
Cindy
Nope

Eh..

Movie: Twelve Monkeys

Scene: Where Brad Pitt etc. is about to let all animals free
Nope
Pffffft...Bryan has me on ignore.

Army of Darkness when the dead are all marching...
Nope
The big battle scene in Scorpion King
Nope
My guess would be War of the Worlds.
Nope
Waiting for the games to begin in Beyond Thunderdome
Nope
Okay, the invasion of Novgorod by the Teutonics Knights in Alexander Nevsky, music by Prokofiev.
Nope

Nope

Is it the armys marching to battle in Alice in Wonderland?
Nope
I dunno but it sounds like something is pissed and someone is getting ready to get their ass kicked..... just a guess
Yes - some things are pissed and they try to kick ass, but get their boney little asses kicked instead.

I thought I had some movie buffs here :p

The soundtrack is a dead give-away. Probably the most famous movie composer ever (way before Elfman's time).

You guys aren't thirsty enough - keep guessing :D

Okay...1963, Jason and the Argonauts. The Robot Skeleton Army rising up and going to battle.

Composed by Bernard Herrmann...who did alot of work with Alfred Hitchcock...who I know you love as much as I do.

Please tell me I'm close?

EDIT: K, just went and looked it up on Youtube...and I'm pretty sure I got it finally, lol. You know, I went to the theatre to see this movie when I was a kid, lol. I was only about five and it was a rerelease.

Man, I just watched this whole clip...so unreal for almost 50 years ago, in terms of SFX. I remember going to see the Sinbad movies as well, lol...drove my mom nuts, cause she hated those types of movies. But she did pass on her love of Hitchcock to me.

Yessss!!!

They aren't robots though - they're real skeletons FIGHTING!! How cool is that??

One of my favorite Harryhausen scenes - ever.

Bernard Herrmann not only did the score for a lot of Hitchcock films, he did The Day the Earth Stood Still, Citizen Cane, and TV as well - Twilight Zone, Lost in Space, amongst some.

So what will it be? $$ or beer?

I actually just looked up how they did it...was curious. I think they called it stop motion? And looked up Herrmann as well....I knew about Hitchcock and Twilight Zone...but he also did Cape Fear (the original, not the remake) and Taxi Driver (a classic).

I'll PM you!! Wow..six years here, and I finally got one. :D

Well Im saved...thats not horror....so I wouldnt know anyway:D

I forgot to congratulate you Pina! :notworthy

I'm impressed. I was looking for a bunch of John Williams movies. I forgot that Bryan is a bit..how to say this nicely..:D..more OLD than most of us here are..;)

The scene is great. I know I was almost amazed when I saw this on TV in the 80:ies and wondered how they made it.

This was a good one Bryan!

You're kidding about that right? cause that's real horror if you aren't.

WTG Pina!

Bierfest questions

Sounds like Jason is coming after the beer that is being stacked at my house after my win in the contest.

Actually, just watched the webcast and wanted to know where that picture was taken. I know you said you were in the Sistine Chapel, but doesn't really look like the Vatikan. Do tell.
