The Guardian newspaper and in particular their journalist Rob Davies who specialises in covering the gambling industry, are this morning reporting that the UKGC are investigating a UK licence holding operator that is alleged to be involved in an 'illegal' offshore operation.

, Davies states:
The company mistakenly included documents indicating it had been transacting with entities based overseas, sources said. Details were written in white text on a white background but were spotted by staff at the regulator.

The article continues:

The apparent transactions have prompted concerns about a possible illegal offshore network taking unlicensed bets from high-rolling British punters and depriving the exchequer of significant sums in unpaid taxes.

The accidental nature of the disclosures also underlines the difficulty faced by the Gambling Commission in uncovering underground betting, unless companies suspected of offering illicit bets stumble into incriminating themselves.

Ow sorry mate , forgot forward to you when I got it this morning.

This kind of reminds me of the (somehow) UKGC-licensed Bcasino scandal on this forum when their beta site accidentally used the OceanBets (1668/JAZ scam site) contact details.

So we'll have a sweep - who was it? Ladyboys, Willies, PP, BetDead, OK Corral? Odds incoming...

"If your offshoring VIP'S your licence is toast" sounds like a death sentence for the bookmaker to me. At a guess I would go Bet365
That's the one I would say it categorically wouldn't be - it's too big, too profitable, Denise Coates has been honoured and it makes the majority of its money overseas already.

funny, i had discussion with colleague that its unlikely imo. Unfortunately I turned diplomatic yesterday, so cant share any thoughts.

This is however just speculation at the moment, based on a piece by Rob Davies from The Guardian. But he does tend to have his finger on the pulse when it comes to the gambling industry, even though he is 'selective' as to what he reports.

FWIW I doubt very much it is Bet365. Indeed would be incredibly shocked if it turned out to be the case.

This could very costly for the entity concerned. This isn't just big fine territory, but potential suspension or revocation of licence. And if that's not enough, they could well turn around and face the other way only to face a huge fine and/or criminal prosecution from HMRC...
