The UKGC's investigation found:
The UKGC’s investigation, which covered the period from October 2023 to February 2024, found Videoslots had relied too heavily on automated systems that failed to identify harmful or high-risk customer behaviour.
The Commission highlighted issues in the operator’s deposit-monitoring process, where internal thresholds were applied on a calendar-month basis and did not factor in a player’s first deposit.
As a result, one customer lost £5,000 in a month despite a nominal £3,000 internal limit, another lost £5,000 in less than 24 hours, and a third lost £7,500 over 18 days.
In a Linkedin post, CEO of Immense Group, Alexander Stevendahl pushed back on some aspects of the investigation:
In his LinkedIn response, Stevendahl said the company had worked “closely and constructively” with the UKGC throughout a process that began in early 2024 and had implemented every improvement requested.
He said this made it “surprising” that several clarifications Videoslots supplied during the process were not reflected in the public statement.
He disputed the UKGC’s conclusion that Videoslots breached customer deposit limits, insisting that “no customer exceeded their self-set deposit limit.”
Instead, he said the company had introduced internal thresholds designed to prompt enhanced checks before a player approached their own limit.
