So as the title says,

I had an account with bet365 since 2011 and when I tried to get them to give it back to me because I kinda closed that account in a rage. In live chat they said they could not find the account what so ever even when I gave them all my details. Which has not changed lol. I mean I closed accounts many times and when when I tried getting that casino to reopen them they did after many years?

So I am super confused. I think I closed it in like 2014 or 2015 I really can not remember.

So my question was why did they completely delete all my details and old account? I thought casinos kept copies of old dormant accounts data forever?

But anyway I did create a new one.

Bet365 is a globally-recognized brand with a full suite of casino games.
Data protection (GDPR) I would imagine, and 6-7 years seems to be the major litmus test for a lot of data (statue of limitations, tax purposes and so on).

Historically they may have held onto it for longer, but under the GDPR they have to justify "no longer than necessary" and "minimal amount required" - so they can trivially justify 7 years for legal and tax purposes, but beyond that it's difficult to justify for a closed account and so rather than fight a pointless battle they could junk the data.

Of course, that doesn't stop companies trying to get around this and keep data longer than they should - been plenty of court cases for "right to be forgotten" in recent years - some genuine, some speculative, some malicious.

Ok I see, thanks for reply, I forgot about this thread lol

I was able to open an account with bet365 although I am registered on Gamstop.
They did not ask for any verification info.
I lost over a thousand in a week..
Anything I can do?

Stop gambling? Or go to a GA meeting? Yes casinos are less than virtuous but they didnt force you to gamble money away. We have to take responsibility for our own actions.

Did you use the same details as your blocked account, someone else's or fake details?

Did you use a different payment method to the previous account?

If you made attempts to circumvent the exclusion you probably don't have any case for getting the money back.

Install betblocker software like others have suggested and seek help with your addiction.

Had an account with them years ago and won, but they said I was on a Bonus and did not pay out and they closed the account.
When I re-joined a few months ago, I used my real details (name date of birth etc) , although address different as I moved home a year ago.
I did not, and did not have to, make any attempt to circument exclusion.
They did not even verify me, but now say they did not have to because thier "internal procedures" do some kind of secret verification.

Very judgemental. Are you perfect yourself?
Actually had been stopped for many years but had a slip.
I am just spelling it out to you. You seemed to be looking for money back in opening post despite being registered on Gamstop. Its all on you as know you have a problem and circumvented the mechanism designed to stop that problem. The buck stops in the mirror I'm afraid.

@johnnymcc1966 to be fair compulsive gamblers are using the tools provided to prevent the problem gambling, if those tools fail it's not really the players fault imo...otherwise what is the point in having the tools?

again - very judgemental and lacking empathy and actually wrong - I did nothing to "circumvent any mechanism".
Bet365 had my name date of cirth etc and should have stopped me opening an account - but vecause theydid and I lost all my hard saved Christmas money - yes I am looking for money back - otherwise what is the point of GAMSTOP if casinos can ignore it!!!

Had hoped to get some advice or help or info on here that woudl help me to get my money back from a big player in a hugely rich inistry - but so far most replies are backing the cainso against the "small player" and all I have got is attidude, criticism and no help at all.

If you used exactly the same details you used for Gamstop to sign up with the second account they shouldnt have blocked the account being opened, but if you have changed any of the significant details they will see that as circumventing the exclusion and it would be doubtful that they would give a refund.

Hi @AmGam if you have exhausted all other means then you could possibly try this. I would say that your chances of success are fairly limited as bet365 will clearly state in their terms that funds in a dormant account will not be retained indefinitely.

Sadly bet365 have never felt the need to have a rep at the forum.

This bit is the area where you may have some success, depending on the circumstances at the time. If you are able to prove that you were fully registered with Gamstop and were self-exlcuded from gambling (not lapsed or had returned after a break period) then you most definitely have a legitimate case - IMO.

So, the question is, can you prove that?

well - they are not giving a refund - and so I suppose my next stop is a Complaint to the Gambling Commision?
If you managed to create an account while on gamstop, this means you manipulated the system by providing different information as registered on gamstop.

You will not get anything back.

This is the thing. Many people think GAMSTOP is bullet proof and if somehow they can circumvent the exclusion and signup with another UKGC licensed operator, they then have a fall back should they lose their deposits. Believing it is a win win, as they are of the mind that they will get said lost deposits returned - by the very nature of having self excluded via GAMSTOP beforehand.

Players need to read the terms and conditions when signing up to GAMSTOP. GAMSTOP is just one of many tools available to help you quit gambling. It is not a silver bullet. Players still have to take responsibility for their actions!
