Casino at the Empire (London)

Very disapointed with my visit to the 'Casino at the Empire' in Leicester Square today. They have removed all of the older generation IGT slots (Wolf Run, Treasures of Troy, Pharoahs Fortune etc) and replaced by the new super novomatic slots. Only 4 Fort Knox slots left which have Cleopatra, Lobstermania and the like.

Spoke to the Pitboss who confirmed the changes are for good. So you are now forced to play at pre-configured amounts, no changes to number of lines.

Walked out without spending anything and will not be heading back!

They have a good poker room and its a pretty relaxed fun casino imo, I wouldn't be so quick to judge simply because of the slot selection.

That said I do hear you and also Empire and Hippodrome seem to run Novamatics at 90% when the rest of the UK run them at 94%. Weird and why would you play there if so. It might be something to do with a localised kind of progressive that the novamatics have.

Hippodrome is better and nicer for table games (and smokers!). The Empire is better for poker imo.

I like the Hippodrome and they now have a winners TV wall with a list of slot winners from the previous weeks. Several £10k+ wins and a large variety of games.

Yes, that is a great smoking deck there. I'm not a smoker but even I liked the atmosphere up there. The Hippodrome poker facilities feel like a bit of an after thought, although the VIP poker area is pretty impressive. Will have to try and visit the Empire at some point.
