Rooney was so shite, I could have played better - but he left him on.
Heskey was MILES better than Rooney - so he took him off.
Gerrard & Lampard don't play well together - so he left them both on.
4-4-2 DOES NOT WORK - everyone except Capello can see that.
Crouch has an amazingly good England scoring record - so the manager gives him just SIX minutes.
Gerrard plays best in a central/free roll - so Capello put him on the left.

I know crap-all about football - but I know I could make better decisions than Mr Crapello!

Completely right. Our formation was so boring, why Capello chooses players out of position is beyond me. Think we may be okay against European opposition but apart from that it will be another "premature" exit.

Im always cheering for England in the WC, but man are they crap this year! The players seem like they have gone straight from a 14 days drinking spree in Magaluf to South Africa to play soccer. Why didn't Capello change Lampard with Carrick? And to not have Crouch on the field.. But the main problem is that each and everyone wearing the white shirt looks like they have been picked from the 4th division.

Sorry England, you make it hard for me to support you with these utterly shiat performances...

The match was unfortunately not exactly rivetting, and I kept hoping that all that very expensive English star-power on the field would suddenly ignite and we would see more fireworks...no such luck, although that one electrifying burst down the wing by Crouch certainly got my attention in the closing moments of the game.

The inter-player communication didn't look effective despite the irritating drone of the vuvuzelas.

I thought the Algerians had less polish but way more spirit, and the unexpected result perhaps reflected that.

Perhaps the English will rise to the occasion next time, but they've certainly made it more difficult for themselves.

The disappointment of the England fans present was pretty clear.

It seems managers always want to have Lampard and Gerrard in the same 11, I don't know how much longer a manager can go with that, should also try Crouch and Defoe in the next match. Cole on the left.

As being a German I watched the match from another point of view
But even I thought how worse is this team. I expected a firework of good
old English football. And I already had some phrases to scream in my mind...but in the end I even felt pity for the guys.....

oh common guys england were just plain shite your giving them to much credit , we have great players but they arnt doing what there paid to do , they havnt played well in 2 games now & realy dont look fit to be in the world cup , i thought they need a rocket put up all the asses ,it was like watching a sunday league game only theyplayed more poorly,it just isnt happening,all the players other than a couple all looked like they didnt want to be there , there was no english fighting spirit ,i cant believe i watched the whole game , best of luck for wed .but unless they have a almighty turaround they will go out & have no one to blame otherthan themselves.

Frankly, he shouldnt have left Walcott out. This lad hasnt been playing well but adds a new dimension in the final 20 minutes of a game as a super-sub. The team is much better than France though whose fate is out of their own hands.

That would be my choice, if only I could make it; those 2 up front with Gerrard just behind in a 3-4-1-2 formation with Cole on the left. Leave Rooney & Lampard on the bench to bring on if the above doesn't work.

We MUST go all out attack - to all intents & purposes we are in a knock-out stage already - we MUST win, or we come home.

Unfortunately I think Capello is too thick-headed to try anything as adventurous as that, so he might as well try & book the team some early flights home - at least then he would be doing something useful!

On a side topic, is anyone else thinking that in gerneral, the standard of football in this world cup so far is very poor. 25 games in and hardly a free kick on target, not one goal, sums it up. The number of corners that dont clear the first man - or clear them all - the number of overhit and misjudged passes and the amount of bruised punters in Row Z.

I'm sure this new ball is aerodynamically spot on, but as anyone who's played will know, you need to get to used to new balls or boots and it looks like most are struggling to get it's measure. Own goal by FIFA imo.

That aside though, England are pretty average, always have been and always will be. The press just like to build them up into something they aren't so they can knock them down again and sell more papers. Papers like the Daily Mail have proved they have no patriotsm recently anyway by trying to sabotage the 2018 bid "in the public interest". It's all about shifting units at the expense of anyone.

EDIT: and as I write, Sneider seems to have got the measure of the ball LOL.
