Official FOOTBALL - Premier League, SPL & UK Nations 2024/25

It is strangely uplifting to see Van Nistelrooy back involved in British football, like a reminder of better, simpler times.

Haven't seen him for years either, whereas someone like Beckham or cantona are forever popping up in TV adverts, so start to become as remembered as much for that as their football.

He's got off to a good start as well, long may it continue.

I'm very happy with the scores in todays football. If only Chealski would score. And a Liverpool win with Salah scoring would top my day off :)
I grew up with the press constantly calling Man U as being great even during all of those years in the 70's and 80's when they where shit.
And I think it is time Everton got relegated

Man United are embarrassing and have been for years. Watching them struggle at home 3-0 down to Bournemouth is just pathetic. Poor Amid Diallo cant be expected to carry the same set of useless wankers every week. I feel sorry for there fan base!
Looking at the Southampton kit I wonder what temperature they washed their red and white kit on?

What a game! I am starting to like betting on football :) And Manure in the bottom half of the table at Xmas :)

Manure v Newcastle. And my Toon Army are already one nil up with Isak bing in my bet builder. I just wish I had added Maguire to get a booking in the game
EDIT. 2-0 up already and Gary Nevil has already excepted the game :)
Man city and man utd both in the championship next season would be something!

Unfortunately it would be almost impossible to get into the bottom 3 with the current points difference and man city are never going to get properly punished

Neither are likely to be relegated but I do wonder about the possibility of corruption in football.
Newcastle are at the harshest end of the new FFP rules while those with the biggest budget to deffend themselves seem to get the most delicate treatment by the courts.
Nothing seems to have been learned about Rangers in the Scots league years ago when they where demoted to the bottom tear. Forgive me if I don't recall the full reasons about Rangers but Newcastle being the richest club in the World seems to mean nothing under these new rules when rich clubs from the past where not hamstrung about their spending :(

Them getting relegated would still require the current bottom teams to win points, so I don't think its happening :)

And City is never gonna get properly punished. We all remember UEFA pathetic attempt to punish them and somehow they were NOT guilty yet still paid a fine. Funny? No. Just reality.

Liverpool was always my 2nd fave team so I am enjoying their Prem league and Euro run this year. Mo is almost as good as Isak :P
The Merseyside clubs have incredible luck. Everton are awful, year on year but somehow escape relegation because there's always at least 3 teams around them that are totally hopeless, marginally worse which ensures they stay up.

Liverpool on the other hand have seen a shock collapse in the mighty Man City, any team getting to within a few points of them lately i.e. Chelsea and Arsenal somehow manage to have a mini collapse (Chelsea at home to Fulham and away at Ipswich for example last two games) so the title chase has effectively been over since November. Yes, I get that Liverpool have consistently got the results so you can't blame them, they're doing the job but it seems this season is like some kind of walkover.

I would love to see Everton go down but again it will not happen because there is other poorer sides. Forest are shocking me but I guess that they will drop out of the top 4. I think there is a lot of teams that could fining top 7/8 because theres so little between them all. The English Prem seems to have attracted most of the best players in the world other than those chasing the big money in Saudi.
And the Championship looks very tight this year. I would bet on Leeds blowing it again this year.

Its really hard to disagree about walkover season, and its really unfair to me tho in a way. Liverpool still need to win points to be where they are. We also forget that 20 years ago 80 points is totally deserving of a champion. Now you can finish in 2nd with 90 points and its not enough. I think City and Liverpool regularly getting 80+ points just made us skew in our expectations of what is a good team :)

I remember people also saying same thing Leicester City had a walkover win, since every normal challenger was playing like shit but I always say the table doesn't lie. And the winner always deserves it :)

GC JFI 😅 I think Dunover is an Everton fan!

Salah will carry this liverpool team to victory. You can put money on that. We're witnessing one of the best football players of our generation In mohamed salah. He and Liverpool deserve to win the league this season. Fingers crossed they do
Maybe Salah is just playing hard to get with his new contract and will stay?

It's just contract frolics and your typical mind games in a 'who'll blink first' scenario, seen it a million times.

Salah had a chance to bail last time the Saudis came knocking, but chose to stay, so money's not the issue - I'd imagine it's more to do with the length of the contract they'd likely be willing to offer, if anything.

Perhaps it's also Slot's way of stamping his authority and not wanting to be seen as beholden to a club legend's whims, especially given that Salah's essentially a Klopp acolyte and part of the 'old guard'....

Playing out of his skin's only going to aid Salah's cause, and it would appear almost ridiculous to not reward him based off that. They'd recoup most of it off merchandising alone!

Never forget how Aubameyang was unplayable at Arsenal at around his 33rd nameday a few years back and how everyone clamoured for the club to tie him down, lest a rival nicks him. He got a bumper pay rise, suddenly acquired two left feet, and become an outcast journeyman who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo!

Didn't watch the game, the 'benefits' of being in Asia is all the good games make you choose between sleep or staying up to watch, and then having shitty day at work.

But 1 whole goal in the entire game, and apparently by a guy who should have been sent off 1 minute earlier. Isn't this the 2nd time Spurs robbed Liverpool by bad refereeing in 2 seasons?

So looking forward to this Forest v Liverpool game. My heart is with Liverpool but my romantic side harks back to the glory days of Forest when I was a young Kid. But I have gone for a good Liverpool win with a Salah goal in my bet builder.
Edit. 1-0 Forest but I don't mind if I lose a few quid on it :)
God I hope they pull off the win here, really opens up their title race and draws liverpool closer, especially if they go on to lose their game in hand.

As a man united fan, it be nice to have someone to root for in the title race.

Wood? Isn't he Kiwi?

Still, with Kane's England stint drawing to a close, having won diddly-squat and choking in the big games, it'd be nice to find another no.9 in that Shearer/ Rooney/ Kane mould, lest we forever blow bubbles (not the chimp)

If stealing other countries' forwards is the way, so be it 🙏

Sorry Jono but I don't think your lot will get relegated because there are teams that are much worse than Wolves. (and please let Everton be one of them )

Appreciate that mate but with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa up next cannot see where any points are coming from in those games.

Agreed there are worse teams and we can beat any of the prem sides "on our day" but relying on Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton to keep losing so we stay up is worrying lol.

I also want Everton to go down, they're what I call a "thread" team. Been hanging on for seasons and won't finally drop.

You seem to have a decent manager so I think you will survive. It was a closer game than the scoreline suggests.

Wolves should be fine, they had a minor resurgence after Pereira's appointment but have since hit a slump.

They've always been streaky, so are just as likely to win three games before inexplicably losing three on the bounce, t'was always thus.

Not sure Lemina's tantrum's going to help matters, but if he's not interested in a relegation scrap then it's probably best to grant him his engineered January escape and bring some scrappers in.

No team has an automatic survival 'privilege' based on past glories, especially ones flirting with relegation nigh-on every year, so I expect Everton's time to come at some point, especially given their shonky ownership and transfer dealings.....

When you look at the revolving door of managers they've had prior, the likes of Ancelotti, Benitez and even Fat Frank the P.E Teacher, getting shot of Dyche was just madness. Bringing in Moyes was foolhardy, there's no room for sentiment in a relegation scrap.

Discounting Southampton who are obviously resigned to their fate, Ipswich are dead ducks, whilst the likes of West Ham and Palace aren't exactly ready to relax just yet. But given the likelihood of putting a run together, I think Everton fans ought to be really, really worried- Hamburg SV were a prominent Bundesliga club for 55 years having never been relegated, up until they were, and eight seasons later they're still in Bundesliga 2. Lest we forget Leeds etc

Wolves however, should be ok. Yet wouldn't it be great to see Man U relegated? One can dream, at least :p

Look at the likes of Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday, clubs that were prominent in the top tier before being cast adrift, never to return

Would very much demand Charlton be granted Premiership status, an old haunt of mine. Just bin off Man City and their 150 financial irregularities and send them back to the Shaun Goater/ Nicky Weaver era and let them start their ascent anew! (minus the cheating) 🙌

Ahh. Man U getting relegated is the stuff I use to get to sleep after too much coffee and maybe Man City should be relagated to Div 2 for fair play abuses? :P

PS.The romantic in me made me push the Southampton button for tonights game
