This will render a lot slots, BGT ones especially, completely unplayable.

It's a ridiculous decision but it's obvious it was going to happen no matter what the surveys said. I don't play slots without autoplay; it's tedious and unenjoyable. Many people will feel the same. As I've said on here plenty of times once the player sets up their deposit limits and so on they should be free to spend their money how they like. Now thanks to a bunch of hand-wringing do-gooders who are determined to protect a bunch of fucking wet-wipes, who cannot control themselves despite being given the choice of whether to use autoplay or not and it coming with plenty of safety options, the whole UK player-base has to suffer.

My advice to players who lose control when using autoplay - don't fucking use it then. Simple.

But these poor delicate souls have to be protected at everyones' expense, turning an enjoyable past-time for many into a chore. Half the players they're doing this for are probably on GAMSTOP and will never gamble again anyway.

Not much of an auto play user, never have been really, unless its grinding DoA on minimum bets on occasion.

This being said, I have just read the UKGC report in full and come to only ONE conclusion.

Despite all their stats and figures and "findings" I really cannot see why they bothered with the survey and investigations, reading between the lines tells me one thing and one thing only. They had already made up their minds and were never going to change them, no matter what!

I do not feel up to reading a ukgc report, but my cynical assumption was it's just so a ukgc bod has something to say to clueless MPs when they meet in a committee room, and ask 'what measures have you taken to combat problem gambling?' it help buys them another 5 years as a unaccountable quango.

However there is the £2 stake limit still to consider, if that is not happening perhaps this autoplay removal is in effect a counter proposal/safeguard?

All the research they have done shows there is overwhelming opposition to this ban but they were always going to do it.

Never used one myself, so not sure how good they work.
People seem to use them to click in games they have minimized.
Like to farm stuff in minecraft while they do other things on the computer.
So i guess it should work just the same to have it click in a minimized/inactive chrome tab.

Seems to be alot of different ones available, so might need some research to find out which one is most suitable for slotting.

and game animations changing the game cycle, the clicker will just carry on doing its clicking.

Yeah, no win/loss limit is not that great.
But you can set number of clicks, so you can decide an upper limit of say 50 spins before the auto clicker stops.
So even if it might be a bit hard to control exactly how many spins are being done due to lag&win animations, atleast you have an upper limit.

Auto clicker is pretty pointless for me. I have dual screens and like to have the slot running on one whilst chatting to people/watching things/misc on the other.

Who did they interview for this research? Autoplay is far less engaging than constant clicking and also allows people to calculate amount being spent / played. This seems more in favour of the operator rather than the players they're trying to protect

200 clicks a week average is 10,000 in 1 year, that is certainly feasible and probably conservative, I do think they won't have given rsi & unnecessary joint wear and tear a thought, but they ought to have been made to consider it. In fact it could make slotting impossible for people with hand arthritis [a disability] I wonder if the effect is better or worse on a tablet/touch screen, as i'm thinking in terms of the desktop pc mouse that i use.

I've just skim read that report as much of it as possible without getting annoyed, it's written like the summary judgement from a kangaroo court, what a joke. I think they should leave it alone, but an interim compromise at least could have allowed it to continue for £1 and under stake, which would encourage those stakes for autoplay users. Done as an experiment for 12 months and then reviewed. That would make it more nuanced and focus the concern on higher stakes/big losses.

They are out there.
You can even set the total area of the spin button as the 'click area' so it randomizes where it clicks aswell.
People seem to mostly be using them to automate tasks in games, so i guess you need the clickers to act a little more 'human' to avoid detection.
Ive looked around a bit and the bigger problem seems to be finding one that runs in the background without interfering with other inputs from the mouse/keyboard.

I mean, I've never used it as I'm not effected by the UK regulations (and therefore I cannot test it either). But from what I hear the script restores removed features from slots. I guess the features are still loaded in when you load up a slot but then somehow disabled for the player if they're from UK.. and the script then enables them yet again.

I'm not telling anyone to use this to be able to bonus buy again, even if it works. Just saying it's there. And yeah, I'm sure this isn't allowed, but nor is auto-clicking really.. auto-clicking = botting, definitely not ok if you get caught.

I don’t see how a customer circumventing things like auto play would have repercussions on the casino in a court of law. The casino would have done their bit by disabling the function so really it falls on the user.

I’m quite laissez faire when it comes to these restrictions. If a customer wants to use auto play badly enough then so be it IMO. It’s a totally ill thought out rule that the majority of players do not want. I would not condone any casino using a circumvention of auto play rules to void a balance. I personally wouldn’t choose to do it though, just not worth the potential hassle.

Bonus buys, however, are a totally different kettle of fish and can cause real gambling related harm to the end user. Therefore I think the casino would be totally right to void any balance if the user attempts to circumvent that.

*) No advantage to players at all

*) Players using them are not causing casinos to break any governing bodies regs etc

*) Spin speed on manual (or auto clicker) spins are timed anyway, again no regulations being broken

If I owned a casino, rather than lose players, knowing no rules are being broken and that it would be nigh on impossible for UKGC etc to prove, I would defo turn a blind eye.

Most, if not all casinos t&c's have a clause that mentions the use of software, usually quite non-specific as to the type of software.

Will some casinos use that clause to their advantage? I don't know if a casino could detect the use of one easily.

I cannot see anybody getting their money if they were in breach though, It's a clear swerve of the purpose of the ruling.

But I don't think every casino will be on the watch for it. Just as I reckon we may see the odd casino refusing to pay because of it.

Think without autoplay my finger would be a bloody stump, also i would have been sat playing for hours and doing nothing
else which is not mentally or physicaly healthy.
Think before the ban is introduced, the instigators should be made to reach the final feature on lil devil, JJ2 and that beehive game,
see if they still feel autoplay is bad.

I don't understand why the big firms don't group together and take the decision to judicial review, the ukgc have put the change to consultation, received an overwhelming negative response and then simply ignored it, so it was a sham exercise with a predetermined outcome/conclusion.

Have they even looked at the rsi aspect [ how many slot players in uk, average annual spin count] or affect on those with existing hand problems. Have they looked at alternatives, an option to switch off autoplay in the responsible gambling tools, returned and asked the gamcare respondents whether that would have helped. Or restrict autoplay by stake level.

I'd bet if the gambling sector revenue for slots goes down the ukgc will judge the rule change a success, without looking to see if the saved revenue came from problem gamblers now having more control due to removal of autoplay, it's bonkers and perhaps another example of problem gamblers [and I've been there this last year or so] looking for reasons outside of their own control to blame, helps them cope if they can put monumental personal fuck-ups at the door of the casino/slot setup. [even partly]

Obviously gambling addiction/chasing and the related big losses are a serious problem, but to me this just shows the ukgc are clutching at straws to improve the situation, because if this is the answer or a significant factor how comes it's taken them over 20 years to find it out? [including the predecessor gaming board]

Edit: Having just watched Dunover's vid on this, I wouldn't now make that point about blame above, i'd forgotten abt children being permitted to go on fruit machines at the seaside, funfairs etc... I use to do it myself probably aged 10, and you never forget that unlike some other things done during childhood, so it is like planting a seed. Far bigger factor for ukgc to look into.
