Hello everyone who reads this post.
I'm hoping your can point me in the right direction. This is about a competitons page that sells tickets into draw to win cash prizes (best way i can think of to describe this)
They are registered with companies house. They are NOT registered with the gambling commission. They have advertised themselves in facebook groups such as PIP/DLA. Autism awareness and SEN.
This said group states they raise funds for SEN (no one has seen proof of any such donations made to SEN charities. Baring in mind they are NOT a registered charity either. They encourage people to buy tickets into their online gaming. You pay by debit card or credit card ( baring in mind it is illegal to accept payments from credit cards for gambling purposes)
They openly claim they don't encourage you gamble more than you can afford but yet allowed someone to spend £50k on a credit card (with NO wins of any kind) despite the person begging them to block her account etc they ignored all requests. They delete all comments that calls them out when they BIG wins are won by their employees (chat hosts) partners/friends etc.
Now for the question. Can anyone have any recourse to get their money returned to them for the fact they have portrayed saliciously and for all Intents and purposes to basically make themselves rich. Facebook have closed their page down. But they still operate from their Web page.
I have researched this and found... Money could potentially be reclaimed via the bank as the page has been found to be set up as scam purely for monetary gain. Secondly as they are taking money for tickets by card and credit cards and openly stating they are a gambling page but are NOT registered with the gambling commission. They fact that people have paid an unregulated company under UK law a full refund should be given under the regators new rules which came into force recently.
If you need more info or the name of company please let me know. I havent named them here yet as I couldn't remember if I am allowed to do that or not.
