Yup me again with more technical issues I cannot solve, despite trying before posting....honest I did!

So all I have done is simply move my set up, literally rotated the desk with the tower, screen thru 90 degrees, that's it!

Since switching back on - The screen resolution isn't right, it has gone all "widescreen" and the slots have gone laggy when spinning also.

Tried the right click thing and it is limiting me to the options I can set the screen to

Very strange also, the monitor seemed to be not getting a signal at all when I first set everything back up.

I also get this which has never happened before??

Has my graphics card had it, this is all I can think it maybe.

Help/advice please!!!!!!

This error usually means that 3D graphics (WebGL) aren't supported in the web browser you're using.
We recommend loading the Human in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If you're using a different browser, download Chrome or Firefox and check to see if you still get an error message.
If you use Chrome or Firefox and you’re still getting this error, you might need to manually turn on WEBGL in your browser.
If you're feeling lost or none of these steps works, email us the following information so our team of engineers can help you troubleshoot:

This is the thing, all I did was disconnect everything, move things around and reconnect everything.

Always used Chrome and played Deadwood issue free before this, not changed any settings or messed with anything?

It is as the settings have changed all on their own, Just looking at my display, I can tell its changed and not for the better, totally confused and getting somewhat frustrated to put it mildly.

Been thru Chrome settings and also cannot see where to allow/turn on WebGL

Do you use Windows 10?Sometimes..some update in Windows 10 can affect graphics display..like playing a game.I would recommend googling, for some aid.Do you use macromedia Flash?Just don't panic lol.

@Jono777

Do you have Firefox installed? Since you get that WebGL error, I'm guessing this page does not work for you?

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Firefox is installed but I never use it, always Chrome.

Everything worked fine this morning, display was fine, no WebGL errors nothing, then after a simple move and restart, that's when my issues began.......

To find out if WebGL is enabled in your browser, go to Outdated URL (Invalid).webgl.org/. To enable WebGL on your browser: Chrome: type "about: flags" in the address bar, then search for WebGL and activate the option. ... Open the "Developer" menu and click on "Activate WebGL".

More aid:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Check about:flags like asidea suggested. Strangely my Chrome has that setting disabled, but the actual rendering still works.

You could also either update your display driver or go back to an earlier restore point (if you have one).

Jono, do you use HDMI with your screen?

The monitor does but the towers does not!

It was a bespoke set up and HDMI didn't cross my mind at the time :o

It has the multi-pin standard monitor lead (with an adapter the PC end as the graphics card has a larger pin port)

@Jono777

1. Check that your screen cable is attached properly. Maybe it's not getting a good connection.
2. Check your display driver. Install again if needed.
3. Load up

in Firefox also to see if it's a browser specific issue.

4. If shit still fails, unplug your PC and carry it around the house clockwise.
5. If the error still persists, have a beer or several and call Mr. Wolf who should be arriving momentarily.

In Chrome, these commands get you some info & settings to work with (search webgl):

about:flags
about:gpu

Same thing in Firefox: about:config

If

says it's working, do you still get the error msg in the game screen?

Mr Wolf ain't too happy with me, didn't have his particular brand of coffee last time he called!

Error is still there with the No Limit Deadwood game

How do I check my display driver please?

Aaahh, now we're getting somewhere maybe?

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Me thinks your graphics drivers need updating which explains graphics lagging.

How to Check Your Graphics Card in Windows 8
  1. Right-click on the DESKTOP and select SCREEN RESOLUTION or navigate to Control panel -> Display->Change Display Settings.
  2. From there click to Advanced Setting. The information on the Graphics card will be shown in a new window and if you need to know more information click on PROPERTIES.
if in doublt google..google..google..

...also why the sudden awful lag on things which do work/load, smooth as a babies before :what:

The only thing you did was physically move your pc? No software changes?

Control panel -> device manager -> display adapter -> right click: update driver.

I also think it might be a display driver like asidea said. Try it that helps? You could also check if chrome has hardware acceleration enabled (settings -> advanced).

What did you do Jon? Were you rude to your computer?

so..... after I THOUGHT I was almost there thanks to your help, I am now online (for now) with an old box unit tower I brought in 2011!

After the driver rollback/update - PC forced a restart and that was that, no more screen>>>pc communication.

I think it has to be the graphics card gone kaput now does it not????

Anyway this old unit is soooo slow and outdated, dunno how long it will last, just when I was crawling towards getting back on my feet, BOOM, something else comes along

I think the new graphics card is too expensive so if I disappear from CM for a while, you'll all know why :( :(

Edit: I think the exact style/name of graphics card is Nivea G-force (or something like that), it is named fully in my "time for a new PC thread" - Maybe someone can point me in the direction of a cheap one maybe?

Oh my God.....we've bricked Jon's PC :eek2:

So there's literally no display output anymore at all?

Graphics issues are a pain, I really think this is related. Only graphical problems I had were with my last laptop, at times games and slots were making it wheeze so hard it'd cut out altogether! In the end the thermal paste went, and when that happens it becomes like a knock-on effect sadly

PC on, monitor on but no display. You can hear like a connect/disconnect type noise when I 'wiggle' the monitor cable PC end.

Monitor is fine with this old unit

It did it early on but I fluked it back on but it came in very low resolution, then after trying to fix that nothing at all.

So we need another new pc for Jon thread.

Your current setup is pretty old. Infact so old, I was not able to find the correct thread.

You could replace the graphics card fairly cheaply, but might be a good time to update the whole thing. Hardware is like beer, ages poorly.

Oh, that's a Nvidia card then. Nivea is something Goatwack uses daily to achieve enough elasticity for the corona memes thread to stay afloat.

A new set up would be awesome.

However I've been financially struggling (compared to previous years) for about 12 month's now and am just getting back to my feet (an unexpected house move with 1K deposit and 1 month rent up front did not help matters :p)

This being the case, I will have to settle for just the graphics card (if that is what is causing the issue) - Are these usually plug n play please?

1 Reboot in Safe Mode.
2 Uninstall the driver.
3 Disconnect from the internet and then restart the system.
4 In normal mode, install the new driver.

Trouble is i have no pc diagnostic tool..to check your graphics card, so can't help much.Reason why update was not successful was because your pc has conflicting software issues. You probably did not remove old traces of different versions software, thus your system is confused.

Will give it a try, that's if I can see what I'm doing if it will display lol

Remind me please is it F11 as its starting to boot up to get the safe mode menu?

In short, you must go to "Advanced options -> Startup Settings -> Restart". Then, press 4 or F4 on your keyboard to start in Safe Mode, press 5 or F5 to boot into "Safe Mode with Networking," or press 6 or F6 to go into "Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

Error Above thats for Windows 10, i'm getting confused lol.

Windows 8 or 8.1 also let you enable Safe Mode with just a few click or taps on its Start screen. Head to the Start screen and press and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard. Then, while still holding SHIFT, click/tap the Power button and then the Restart option.

F11 or Alt + F10 for recovery or reboot..this is for Windows 8 version.
Do you have a manual for your Windows 8? i worry you might do the wrong thing in haste.

No manual and no display, so I have to listen out for it booting up, drill the F11 and hope the disply shows the boot menu.

Sadly I cannot do any of these as the screen is black throughout start up and when PC is fully 'ready to go'

If you cannot do a reboot have you got a startup disk to recover system or run a system diagnostic? If this is not available, then you need system recovery.

System recovery must always be the very last option, as it involves reformatting your disk and will erase all files, except for system files. I will not advised that yet till a diagnostic is run.

I'm having a nightmare lol.

No discs, no manuals, no recover software.

I basically paid a guy who used to run his own PC business to do a build from scratch.

Chose the components with advice from members here and he brought it to my house all pre-loaded and ready to go.

Even been googling and PC world don't appear to offer the 'free' diagnostics that they used to do???

I am gonna ask you if you can see cmd prompt in your black screen?i.e. - C:/

- free diagnostic tool

A screen that doesn't turn on may be a sign of a malfunctioning screen or a bad connection between the computer and the monitor. For desktop computers, trying another monitor or cable is a simple way to see if one or the other is at fault. Of course, if you're having this trouble with your laptop or all-in-one system, or if a bad video card is the problem, some disassembly may be required.

Windows users could be confronting a corrupted system file. In that case you might see a

but nothing else on the screen. Another cause might be a problem with a display adapter. Basically, if the computer can't detect a monitor of some kind, the screen will remain black. In cases like these, when you can't even get the computer to launch, you may need to restart your computer and boot into recovery mode. To do this, you'll need to press F8 repeatedly as your computer boots up. An alternative is to use an external drive, such as a DVD or flash drive.

Also is your battery plugin?

One screen

My primary PC it displays black screen, tower is working as all the keyboard and mouse lights are on and the fan is running.

Old PC (the 2011 one) is working with the same screen so its not the screen, speed is so slow, it reminds me of my ZX Spectrum days!

Despite my (VERY) limited knowledge and from your guys input I am 99% convinced its either

i) The video card Nivida thing-ma-bob
ii) The driver causing a problem
iii) The little black plug which allows the fittings to match on the monitor cable

*Apologies for the lack of technical jargon :o - also thanks for all the input today one and all!

My bet would be the Nivea thingy. Or the driver.

Hard to tell since you can't access the damn thing with the monitor attached.

Problem solving (esp. hardware) is great, isn't it? I had a mysterious problem with my pc years ago and asked my super geeky friend to help out. He basicly separated every thing from the case and... left.

As it turned out, the broken component was the psu.

Just one more thing.

Did you check if the display card is still properly in its slot? Maybe it loosened up when you were running around the house with the case?

Yeah, I check that mate!

Just had to 'give in' and book it in for a diagnostic at a repair shop.

PRAYING it is not an expensive job as I'm a touch fiscally embarrased right now but really need it as I also work from home and my PC generates some of my regular income
