Hey everybody :)

I was looking through the forums (and via Google too) if there are some movie/tv shows/series dedicated topics, but I didn't find results.
Thought would be great to have a corner for recommendations and discussions :)

I never liked watching series, because I get easily hooked and addicted and sad it's over in the end. But in the last 2-3 years I watched a few great ones - to catch up on what I missed or to see why some of the new ones are so popular. The ones I liked are True Detective (first season), Stranger Things, Devious Maids (this one is to satisfy that soap opera girly side of me), Taboo, Modern Family ('cause Sofia Vergara is so funny), but in the top 3 are:

- Breaking Bad - although serious criminals, you can't help but adore Mr White and Jessie. Other characters are amazing too
- Black Mirror - this is pure genius for me. Showing how thin is a line between usage of modern technology and the terrible consequences it can brought us.
- Young Pope - Jude Law at his best! Epic character.

I'm currently on Peaky Blinders and although I thought this one is not so for me, I really like it!

Important note - I'm in the 0.00001% of the world population who is not into GOT :D

Which ones would you recommend or you are addicted to? :)

I recommend Breaking Bad,definetely

Sure we just had a thread like this recently :what:

Apart from the aforementioned shows such as Breaking Bad etc it's quite hard to find ones near that quality where everything just 'gels'.

Most impressive recent series was Babylon Berlin. Like others here I like to binge-watch too :D

Mad Men recently, pretty good stuff. Haven't seen Black Mirror, it sounds intriguing.....

There's also a hell of a lot mediocre, goofy crap that somehow can't be put down. eg The Blacklist, Blindspot (ridiculous), Ray Donovan (at the point of self-parody), Vikings (suspend your disbelief and it becomes quite good), Riviera - with that bird from Bourne Identity going all Miss Marple on people's ass & Iwan Rheon being Ramsey Bolton in everything he does.

Actually come to think of it, Legion was pretty outstanding and the pilot episode has to be amongst the best openers in TV history.

Britannia was on Sky recently, after all the build-up and hype. It was the probably worst series I've ever seen, but hey at least it's got Gareth from the Office in it

The absolutely banal writing takes the cake, with the array of modern words thrown in there, such as eg 'wanker', amongst others. It's truly, truly bad.

Right now though, my partner's put on some ITV 2 background fodder, the greatest series ever : You Only Live Twice. Some awful Golden Girls rip-off. Now that's entertainment

Oops sorry then, I really couldn't find it :(

Believe me, Black Mirror is a masterpiece! Each episode is a story for itself, so you don't even have to watch them by an order. It left strong effect on me, especially the last season and episodes called "Black Museum" and "Metalhead".
When I think about series, I notice that I mostly enjoy in ones coming from the UK :D

Lucky for you then that I like these kind of threads :eek::laugh:

I will check out Black Mirror for sure

have Black Mirror DLED but haven't attacked it yet...waiting for spring so I can just chuck the monsters (dogs) outdoors to enjoy in peace without pausing an episode every 5 minutes.
newer fare I'm digging is Orville and Discovery.

I enjoy rhe water cooler fare like Vikings, Westworld and GoT.
Looking forward to season 2 of American Gods but a bit nervous theyre taking it in a wholly new direction.

Dragons Den (CA) and Shark Tank are good dinner fare.

I kinda struggled with American Gods but it started warming up near the end...As ashamed as I am, the last series i binge watched was Troll Hunters (the slot plays awful)

The Americans (oh those pesky Russians, even in 2018), Sneaky Pete have also been known to be consumed in a day.
it was rather pokey. Mind you the book while a fun read was light so it definirely requires a lot of filler
I'm excited to see how they handle Good Omens

I can assure that the Bold and the beautiful,As the world Turns and Neighbours are doing very well, let alone all the new soapseries that I do not know about

I'm ashamed to admit I watch the new Dynasty :D

I really liked the old series Dynasty aswell as I liked the old series Dallas, they are actually quit nice to watch in my opnion:):D:cheers::lolup:
back in the 3 station 1 household tv days I watched them all by default as my parents watched Dynasty Dallas Falcons Crest and Knotts landing

Started watching Dexter (recommended to me years ago) last month, On season 7 already, love it lol.

Other than that, watched Prison Break thru at least 5 times (apart from season 5 which was rubbish) Breaking Bad 2-3 times and TWD couple of times.

Seems sad but watching em from the start again you pick up on so much you missed 1st time around and also makes for easy viewing when absolutely knackered lol

I liked it up until he became incompetent with the whole chloroform gig and the subsequent escapes (seems creepy now i type it) :eek2:

And Jimmy Smits being in it!

Though the John Lithgow season was great

I really like John Lihtgow,he can not be beaten in Cliffhanger but by Gabe Walker himself, talk about
worshipping.Only Stepen King can defeat them

Done a few runs of the Fringe over the past 6 months. Stranger things and The walking Dead. as for films got to say Now you see me 1 and 2 are great (bit like my casino balance of late, Now you see me now you dont)

I binge watch all tv series because one I dont have the time to catch episodes when they are on so what Ill do is wait for a season or even the series to end and then just spend a saturday evening night late morning watching it and loving it. I hate waiting week to week because I forget half the stuff and its not as entertaining

Walking dead
breaking bad
game of thrones
better call saul
new netflix series called the mist by steven king
sons of anarchy
prison break
the sopranos
netflix series called van helsing
Suits

Sitcoms I loved

King of queens
My name is earl

don't get too attached to the mist it got cancelled.
like suits..looking froward to the spin off :)

Breaking Bad was simply the best, started watching back in 2009 so had to wait each year for the new seasons, was tough lol.

Nothing much has got close, no mention of Ozark on here starring Jason Bateman, season 2 out soon and really could be the next Breaking Bad, season 1 was great.

Narcos another great show, the others already covered on here, Dexter final season was truly terrible, and oh yes, Black Mirror is brilliant.

I might be alone with this one, but there was really only one tv show last year worth mentioning. Twin Peaks. Pure Lynch from start to finish. Nothing on tv compares to it.

Loved the original 2 seasons of Twin Peaks in the early '90's, but the third installment was very different. In a good way in my opinion. Pure stream of consciousness.

Just went and found a petition to sign hoping netflix takes on season 2. I thought it was a netflix series but its actually spiketv. I dont think those petitions do anything tho lol

I am so gutted right now

I tell You I do not feel gutted if I even hear the name of Stephen King

Ah, yes, speaking of cancelled shows I really enjoyed Dark Matter, a space opera which had a decent cast and very watchable premise.

I consumed three seasons of it right up to the point where things were becoming really interesting, before Sify or whoever decided to can it. Bunch of loons

On a more positive note, and although there are possibly too many series being churned out willy nilly on the likes of Netflix & Amazon, I was best pleased to hear of the upcoming Dredd series being pencilled in at some stage. It might even have Karl Urban reprise the role, which is just as well as Dredd deserved a cinematic sequel for sure

well hell :(
At least they renewed Killjoys

Another show that had promise was Wayward Pines. They'd shown the series trailers so many times I felt obliged to watch it :D

With M Night Shamalananan also involved, it started quite well, with a creepy Twin Peaks-esque vibe to it. Before turning into essentially a gimped rendition of the Truman Show, that being the 'twist' an all.

Also, series two was a complete disaster, and could never hope to replicate the somewhat watchable lead acting of series one.

Another newish series, Tin Star, was on Sky not that long ago, starring Tim Roth. It was pretty average to be frank, but was notable for casting that guy off Coronation Street in it :what::what:

That happened with heroes. Me and the gf watched that one together. I thought it was pretty good and then they suddenly canned that one too I was sort of surprised seemed like it would be a hit.

No idea how I forgot my favorite series. Lost. I watch that series once a year.

I have to throw Black Jesus in here. Rare for a comedy these days to be anything resembling remotely funny, but this was. It was consistent throughout as well, but err, may not be to everyone's taste. Or if you're of a heavily religious disposition

for me it always seems shows I enjoy get the axe early lol
Alcatraz
Firefly
Intelligence
to name a few

I wonder what I'm digging now will be cut next
And yet we have the likes of Big Bang Theory being forced upon the viewing public annually. I actually resent that show....even the actors look bored to death by it.

Hopefully they'll remove that from our sets soon. Someone had to say it :D

I can't remember the thread for TV Shows... I'm pretty certain there was another one somewhere that just died as well.

Was watching a bit of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix. One episode turned into a binge session.
Intriguing cases..

Anyone else watching it or something similar?

Is that the mystery prog with dennis farina, use to watch those on utube, very enthralling, and always 'I'll just watch one more case'...
