Who gets sms text spam from online casinos here, many of which you never have heard of? I am currently receiving a handful every month, latest this afternoon. Not going to even click on the unsubscribe link of the latest received which I have attached a screenshot of below.

My mobile number has been the same since I moved back to the UK in 2006, so I am guessing my signup details in the past have been sold on, not necessarily from an online casino, but anything I have provided my mobile number to.

It is incredibly annoying.

Several each month. Phone setting is changed and screens them as spam but I still get told they are being sent.

I used to get loads of those, on a daily basis, until I installed an app to vet all text messages.
You just add keywords to the app. Any texts which contain those keywords are blocked.
My keyword include such things as - gamstop, bonus, restrictions, spins, etc.
Any legit casinos tend to email me any special offers. So I doubt I've missed any that I'd want to see. Not that there ay decent offers these days anyway.
The app is Verosms I only have an iPhone. So I don't know if it's available on Android. But it probably is

I've seen a marked increase in recent months (and they mostly get marked as spam - the odd one gets through and promptly deleted).

Similarly, email spam has gone through the roof recently - whoever got their hands on the Rizk email list (I flagged it as compromised in December 2020) has been going ham as in the past week I'm seeing 10-20 emails per day promoting a mix of dodgy casinos and other crypto scams.

It's not a 'current' thing either.....I've not partaken in any gambling for close to three years now, let alone register at a new casino months before that.

And yet, peppered in among the Russian brides-in-waiting and girth enhancement pro tips I still see the casinos at it, so trustworthy too:

^ Ok 'fairy' 'nuff, that's actually a good deal :p

So with the email chaff, it certainly looks like my details have been bandied around like a lady of easy virtue ever since submitting them, all those years ago. Since not registering at every site like a madman however, and not giving out my mobile number, the SMS casino offers have been fairly infrequent, especially given how the number's changed since then.

It's almost as if handing one's number out to supposedly reputable casinos ultimately ends up in the wrong hands, as if......by magic ? ?

It was a pain to set up unique email aliases for each account (about 10 years ago), but that has paid off over time as it has identified a number of breaches - including some that have never been announced. Thankfully, in most cases it's limited to name and email address (which suggests poorly managed or outsourced marketing campaigns) but the companies should still be disclosing this - and many of them don't, fearing a PR or regulatory (ICO) backlash.

Hmmm, that is interesting as before I signed up with GamStop several years ago now, I used to play at their sister casino Guts.
Funny you should mention them, as the wooden spoon goes to... Guts and Rizk - I flagged up three leaks, Guts in April 2015, Guts again (different alias) in May 2018 and Rizk in December 2020. Naturally they denied it and "I must have used it elsewhere" ?, but the evidence speaks for itself...

I can't comment if things have improved under the new ownership as I no longer play at either site (although one left the UK market anyway).

Ok I have downloaded and installed this, be interesting to see how effective it is. Will also enable the ability to block those spam texts including from the govt that don't have a number assigned to them, thus meaning you are unable to block them within iOS. :)

I've been having phone spam for around a year since i decided to sign up at one of Progress Play casinos because i had no other place to play, everywhere limits were reached. I block spam, but still, i can see that it comes on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, around 5 o'clock. But this is only a small thing ... In August i found a small charge of £13.51 on my bank statement, labeled as "ProgressPlay LTD." My only ever connection to Progress Play was through one of their casinos more than a year ago, which account is closed.

Another UKGC-licensed venue where little thieves abuse player data is Merkurslots. I once asked my girlfriend to sign up there because again my limits were hit and i wanted to play something. She signed up using a fresh email, and since then that email has been filling up with all sorts of spam.

Edit: Changed from Admiral to Mercurslots.

If i ever registered at a new casino, i would have a separate sim card, like pay as you go, etc. Otherwise that shite fucks the proper phone number forever.

is it ad free?

Had nothing for years, until past few weeks, now getting about 6-7 per week, mostly come through Fridays and the weekends.

Strange thing is the only casino (I think) I updated my recent-ish mobile number change to is the casino I only use, IE: VS. all the defunct casinos I stopped using ages and ages back have my old RIP mobile number.

Guessing they get numbers from phone provider rather than other casinos (like they used to do??)

I just delete them and never will even entertain them. Lots are all seemingly experts at offering 400% bonuses and getting round UKGC regs lol.

If these are personalized spam messages with your name in there, then they know more than just your phone number.

I get personalized ones and usually laugh on how they craft those messages to get me click on that link....

It usually goes like ... At [a moronic casino name] today we've prepared blah, blah

Yep, likely have got my details from a data breach, there have been a few over the years, including LinkedIn, which said details then get sold on. Or like as mentioned further up in the thread, an operator being loose with the details they have.

In terms of passwords and account access etc. I am not too worried, as even I don't know my passwords, including my login to the Casinomeister forum.

It is just a major PITA my phone being infiltrated with this crappy spam.

Email spam, I am used to. But text message spam takes it to another level IMO.

Spammers always have the personal touch, whether it be via email or SMS.

Like when they pretend to address you in a personalized manner with e.g:

"Take advantage of our amazing bonus with a 400% offer!, John_Smith78

?

There is an age-old service for checking whether your email address have been .. feked.

I don't know any that would check phone number exposes, but for emails it works fine.

Just stick your mail in and it will show you some of the biggest data breaches.

Two of my emails (that i don't use anymore anyway) are getting smashed with spam.

Check yours guys, and change password if you're there, at least :D

Glad you bumped this mate as meant to post earlier this week.

Got a phone call from an unknown number (missed the call completely) but they did leave a voicemail.

It was Zana (or similar sounding, didn't really understand her accent) from a casino I'd never heard of, never mind registered to, explaining that my £100 bonus and 500 FS were sat in my account waiting for me

Needless to say, I deleted the voice mail and went to work and forgot about it until now (won't be logging into any accounts to check, not that I have many these days)

Found it weird as cannot remember the last time a casino called me and a few years back, this was quite a common thing.

In fact I don't even get many emails these days apart from the weekly L&L promotional ones (which is totally cool)

One thing pisses me is when they say 'earn'.

To me, it's straight red flag that it's all big BS, and i think:

1. they're just a bunch of casino marketing morons who think all gamblers are stupid, and they can lure them in with this silly stuff that most gamblers ignore...

2. they're just stupid people and haven't got a clue that one can not 'earn' when playing casino games. Between 'to win' and 'to earn' is a big difference.

That's the default Android/Google setting. You can't get rid of those crap senders just like that mate - they have all this dynamic, you block one of them they'll make a new one.

Once they have your phone number, this spam can come forever.
I never give my real number to casino, I have payasyougo number only for casino, all time is off only when I need to verifed my number or get code I use that sim

Flooded every day. It tends to happen just after logging into a 'reputable' casino too. Also around 5pm UK time is a favourite time.
Yes, especially Friday and Saturday evenings, when they think you are going to relax and spend your bucks on some unlicensed or cup-o-cola shithole, sent you in a sms hyperlink with £5000 and 10,000 free spins loaded into it already.

I like the service on the landlines that BT and VaginaMedia have, for a couple of quid a month, whereby ALL calls are blocked by default unless you approve them when connecting or their numbers are already stored in your contacts menu. So your phone rings, an automated voice will tell you it's an unrecognised number and who it's from, press '1' to accept call etc. When calling the caller will be put on hold after being asked who they are or what company they are calling from if the system doesn't recognise the number from its directory. Once you reject it, it's blocked. The great thing is that auto-callers and bots cannot complete the questions so will hang up before you're even disturbed by the phone ringing.

So we need that on mobile numbers and some sort of system developed for sms texts similar, by the networks.

I know it's an old thread, but it's still good to remind players not to click on this phone SMS spam. It's all fake and comes from fake people who need to be fed to pigs.

I 'literally' (used in it's correct form!) have hundreds of these numbers in my blocked and spam messages on my mobile but they keep on coming. Virgin Mobile was good before it swapped over to that bag o' shite o2 which I moved away from in the first place and they carry on every day.

Spam, just like SMS Text Casino Spam - the same annoying spam, lol.

Recently somebody got my email address and now keeps sending all that crap. I'm using Proton Mail, and they include a handy thing called

.

You can ask AI bots to create a filter and just add it straight in Proton's filter section. So if anyone's using Proton Mail, take a look.

If you expect anything from your casinos, then just put their email address in a white list. This way you'll get their emails and the rest will be moved to the spam folder which you can then clear in a couple of clicks.

Pay also attention to the words you're choosing, as some of them may be used by good senders.

For example, "Don't miss out" could be both good and BS.

The code for spam filtering can look like this:

require ["include", "environment", "variables", "relational", "comparator-i;ascii-numeric", "spamtest", "fileinto", "imap4flags"];

# Generated: Do not run this script on spam messages
if allof (environment :matches "vnd.proton.spam-threshold" "*",
spamtest :value "ge" :comparator "i;ascii-numeric" "${1}")
{
return;
}

For Hotmail users, there is a similar thing but it takes some manual work (i couldn't find another method).

i know its a very shady casino i do vet them well all casinos, its the 3rd party issue,i get SMS and emails all the time, the only non uk site i play at is CASINOWAYS sister site to BETTI casino, yes its curacao but ive never had an issue, its very nice you get that 100/150% deposit bonus every week,so i put £20 in and i play and sometimes convert my money

I can see why they give decent sized, regular reloads at Casinoways.

bonus terms
  1. Unless otherwise stated, the wagering requirement for all Bonuses are 35 times the deposit and bonus amount. Deposit amount can be withdrawn at any time, however bonus and bonus wins will be forfeited. For example, if the Player makes a deposit of 100 EUR and activates 100 EUR in bonus money, a total of 200 EUR will be your new balance and non withdrawable until you play through the bonus requirement or cancel your bonus. If the player wins 800 EUR, you will now have 1000 EUR in total balance. If the player would cancel the bonus before the wagering requirements are met, 50% of account balance will be forfeited and leave 500 EUR available to withdraw. Note, the forfeit percentage is based on how much of the funds activated are bonus money versus real money. In another example where your balance is zero and you are credited with bonus money, 100% of the bonus + any winnings will be forfeited if the bonus is cancelled.
  2. Only players with Active accounts are eligible for promotional offers and prizes. If a player’s account is Suspended or Closed during the promo period, for any reason, their promo entry will be forfeited.
  3. Bets are played with a 50/50 allocation of both real and bonus money, wins as a result from such a bet will be paid out proportionally in real and bonus money.
  4. The maximum amount that can be converted from any Bonus or Bonus winnings unless specifically otherwise stated, is €10,000. This applies to funds that have been generated wholly or partly by the winnings from a playable bonus balance.

Rather you, than I!

i must have had about 1000 emails from MRSPINSTER casino in the last 6 months, some days they send 10 at a time,i will never ever use them
Same!

I used the unsubscribe link and it just keeps coming. If I can be bothered to trawl through the settings I will block their email address but it all goes to junk meanwhile.
