South American Hosting

Does anyone have any experience with South American and Central American Hosting companies? I am looking for ideally a shared server platform for a number of South American targetted sites ( First one is linked in my sig ). Currently using Hostgator in the US, but would be good to be able to locate the sites in the country which they are targetted towards.

I have seen nothing to suggest that basing servers locally makes any real difference in terms of SEO benefits. If you are doing it for other reasons then please carry on

So far since I started this thread, in my 'limited' experience, I am currently of the view that dedicated hosting in South America does not provide the benefits that require it necessary. Will keep you posted though.
