This morning it has been reported that 67% of all gambling will take place on mobile phones by 2029. To be honest, I am surprised it isn't already at that level, but according to research there are still some sticklers that like firing up the old laptop or popping down the bookies to place bets or play casino games.

Recent analyses indicate that mobile devices are responsible for approximately 58% of online gambling revenue, a figure projected to rise to nearly 67% by 2029.

What is interesting is that the demographic data suggests it is just a matter of time, as all the older punters get replaced with younger, more mobile savvy punters.

Data from the UK Gambling Commission reveals that 76% of online gamblers aged 18-24 prefer using smartphones for their gaming activities. In stark contrast, only 14% of individuals over 65 engage in online gambling via mobile devices.

Tried it once, never again hated it don't get any excitement from a small screen it doesn't hit the same for me as on laptop/PC when playing,

I remember the days of wap phones and Lloyd from Brightshare showing me what All Slots Casino could provide. Needless to say back then, I thought it had no chance of catching on.

Then along came full on smart phones. I bet many of the reps for operators here on the forum will attest that probably already at the end of 2025, the majority of their active players use a mobile device.

@L&L-Jan @Mark_Lottomart ?

My phone's an alarm clock and that's more or less it. I'd sooner spend an evening hogtied in a basement with Maynard and Zed than use a phone for anything.
If only this was the reality with everyone else out there. I have to sometimes adjust where I am walking as someone who is staring at their phone is walking straight at me. On more than one occasion I have thought I am better off maintaining my line and walking into them, but then I decide better of it a few seconds before a collision.

I only ever gambled on phone when I used to do the battle weekend at videoslots.

I will never gamble on phone. I will always just gamble on a PC.

I don’t think I’ve ever been desperate enough to want to gamble on my phone. I stick to PC and iPad for gambling (the iPad in itself is a mobile device but the topic here is phones).
I agree with this, I'd also go as far as to say gambling when you're in a social situation at the pub. football, night out, etc, just seems like an addiction to me. Many with disagree but for me if your gambling on your phone when your out with friends/family its a tad strange

Im not talking about putting a bet on the footie while you're watching it ect, Im talking about sitting there spinning slots when your out with people.

Hate to break it to you, but an iPad being a tablet would be technically regarded as a mobile device :D ( Actually whilst joking with you as such, I am being serious :-) )

So The Bandit’s not the only one to do this?? 😉

but some would also argue that a Laptop or Notebook is a mobile device too - so yeah very vague wording.

All to do with screen resolution I believe, so technically not so :)
Well technically netbooks are similar sizes to tablets and notebooks are just a bit bigger than tablets or netbooks.

But the wording "mobile" would make people thing any device that is able to be mobile as in use it anywhere inside or outside the house would be deemed to be a "mobile device" So a laptop and notebook/netbook would fall into this argument for some people.

For me I am in the smart phones only should be classed as a mobile device.

We're over 90%, for long time now.

But yeah in 2014 i've decided were only doing responsive sites now, as it was obvious mobile was going to take over.

I'm surprised I just dont get the appeal to play on a phone, there again, not everyone has a pc/laptop, so maybe thats why its so high

Wowzers! About 10 years ago a friend of mine told me the casino he worked for it was in the high 60% area. But over 90% that is higher than I thought it would be.

I guess as we work online, we are used to being on our desktops and / or laptops during the day. But yes, at night and after work, pretty much all internet activity is on my iPhone.

I mean honestly but can I add this as well. There is a way to make your browser on your phone display the desktop site. But those figures still seem very high for what I would expect them to be.

When most so far in this thread have said they use mostly only PC's like myself.

Same here mate, I'm always on desktop and don't enjoy mobile gaming at all.

Since 1st of September, till today:

Well it will never be 100 % because there is no way I am going to play on my mobile it's awkward, small screen, and uncomfortable, laptop will always be my way to play connected to tv via HDMI.

Yep, Desktop all the way and has been since day 1 pretty much for me.

I just enjoy larger symbols and bigger screen etc, seeing that final wild or scatter drop in for 2,500x+ gives me a much bigger buzz on a PC monitor rather than squinting with my eyesight at my mobile :o

Wife who enjoys a session as much as me is complete opposite and plays 99% of her slots on mobile phone.

13% of play on mobile devices is done sitting on the toilet according to a survey. 🚽

That just got me thinking actually. Is that data Jan posted based on countries? do you have data from the UK where there is no autoplay?

That might explain why it is higher in certain situations haha.

its all countries, but that data is all british, so its 99% UK traffic.

Laptop/PC all the way for me. I prefer to be sat down in the comfort of my own home when I decide to have a punt, and it's useful if I want to play two or more slots at the same time. Playing on a mobile or tablet just isn't an enjoyable experience for me at all, and feels antisocial.

I wonder what the proportion of people who have a mobile and PC, yet still choose to gamble on their mobile, is? And what the demographic is. Would be interesting to know...

I’m currently watching one of the streamer groups I watch regularly (which primarily has a younger demographic) and they and chat are discussing the pitfalls of gambling on a phone.

Issues such as:
  • being on a hot streak and realising you only have 1% battery left and no charger nearby.
  • the phone heating to uncomfortable temperatures
  • hands cramps after a long session
Lots of people obviously do gamble on phones regularly, and by the sound of it, the struggle is real lol

Plugging the charger in but forgetting to turn it on at the damn wall or the connection being loose somewhere. What a bitch life can be.

It varies for me - ive only really been an online slot player since around 2010/11 ish? So for a few years it was exclusively laptop/pc - and ive had a smart phone since around the same time. Its really only the last what.. 3-4 years at a very rough guess that i started using the phone more.

Currently its about 50/50. At home its Pc - unless im playing videoslots battles ill do them on my phone while watching something. I may also use phone when i get into bed if things have been nice and i want to be comfier lol Other than that if im sat in a pub on my own, i might just play something, but its rare if im with anyone (in any situation).

So yeah, 10+ years ago it was 100% pc.. these days around 50/50. I still prefer pc screen, as some games just dont look or fit right on mobile.
