have you ever thought im just tired of online gambling and wanted to quit? im interested in your thoughts. have you ever quit for a small amount of time or taken a vacation from it? did you think im done with this and got an email that was just to good to resist and started back? what makes us keep comming back even when we have been on a dry run, is it the thought of hitting that big random jackpot? i would like some feed back from everyone or am i the only one that has these thoughts and still after that pot of gold at the end of a never ending rainbow?..............laurie

I take breaks from online gaming all the time. Sometimes I just can't afford to play, and sometimes I've just had such a bad run that I feel the need to stop for a while until my bad luck takes a turn.

As for what keeps me coming back, it's not usually an email or anything like that. Typically, I'll just get that urge. I am definitely a gambler at heart, can't stay away too long, lol. I do just gamble for entertainment purposes and I never take it too seriously. I have fun whether or win or lose and have had very few sessions where I've walked away without having had a few moments of fun at least.

I'm backing off for several reasons.

  1. Too much of my time and energy
  2. Not enough disposable income:eek2:
  3. Make sure I'm capable of moderating and/or quitting if I choose
  4. etc. etc. etc.

I think it's good to do a little reality check now and then.

I did quit, from the day NETeller shut us out (Jan 17) till this week (10 months?). And when this bit of gambling money is gone (as it is disappearing all to rapidly), I'll be done with it again for awhile. I like playing online and miss it. It's rare I get to a B&M casino (a couple of times a year -- maybe), so it's nice to be able to spin a few reels or play a few hands of VP at home when the notion strikes. BUT...

Complications of getting money from here to 'there', fees involved with that same process, and even worse problems withdrawing... put all of that on top of the fact that after all that hassle of getting money deposited -- my deposits disappear in moments, with no or few hits to ignite even a spark of hope that a 'real' hit is possible.

When it's not fun, it's time for another break. And breaktime is nearing (again) for this old mouse.

I'd rather scratch my Tunica B&M 'itch' anyway. ;)

...........im glad im not alone thinking like that, it just seems to be such a pain in the ass for u.s players, sometimes i think of just saving up and going to tunica or las vegas(dreaming again)or just maybe buying that winning lottery ticket and hitting the powerball . it just isnt fun anymore when you cant play where you want and you have to move heaven and earth just to find a way to deposit, and then your sitting on pins and needles wondering if youll get paid if you do win.............................laurie

i used to play online a lot. after some bad experiences, i just quit. i occasionally checked up on casinomeister to see how things were and started playing again when all the great talk about 3dice showed up.

i've had a great time playing at 3dice the last couple of months but just decided today to quit again. please don't get me wrong, i'm actually still up a little from playing at 3dice :D even though i've lost a lot this last week, over $2000 i think. (don't worry Enzo, it's not you or 3dice :D, it's that damn supersuits that broke the camel's back :p)

it's that trap we all get into where you play a certain wager, get really familiar with the games, so you raise your bets and deposit bigger. but sometimes, your luck can get really bad at that same time and then it's really hard to go back to .30 or .50 when you just lost a load playng $2 or $3. we get greedy.

the reasonable thing for me than is just to quit for a while or else you fall into that spiral of increasing your bets and chasing losses... not fun anymore.

i love checking up on casinomeister and will continue to do so. if ever i get the urge again, i'm glad to know that 3dice will be around. for me, quitting again now is great because i had a great time, i'm a little ahead, and found a great casino if i ever need one.

someone else said this, but when it's not fun anymore.... time to take a break. and like lojo said, sometimes you just need a reality check.

I've slacked off some myself the last month or so and with Christmas coming up as I need my $'s for that, so that is more incentive to lay off for a while. Also I don't get a chance to go to a B&M that often, but we are planning a trip to Harrah's Cherokee next weekend for a concert and a one night stay. Wish me luck! I've been there several times before but haven't been in a little over a year. After visiting Las Vegas a couple of years ago, Cherokee pales in comparison IMO. I'm also thinking when we get back from Cherokee that I'm going to lay off for the month of December at least. Of course if I ever manage to win one of the free semi-finals at Jackpot Factory for the big $100,000 tourney I'll play that. ;)

I started slowing down since my fiasco. Im thinking on the lines of Laurie. Rich and I were thinking if that I use the money I want to online gamble with and put it aside and save up to be able to play $5 machines at the Trop instead.

I just cant affford to keep losing month after month. It's like trying to impress a guy day after day and you never get a compliment but yet you keep trying because you think, maybe today is the day and it never is.

I don't know if it's improper to quote an e-mail i received from Enzo at 3dice, if it is i apologize but i was so impressed i wanted to share it with you guys.

"Dear Hippo,

Thank you for your feedback, and the support you have given 3Dice in the last few months. We have been honored to provide you with the gaming service we did and I'm glad it is not because of something on our side that we arrive to this point today. I fully respect your decision to take a step back, and have closed your account at 3Dice. This means starting today you will no longer be able to login at 3Dice casino (not for real not for tournament play), and you will no longer receive any 3Dice emails. From this point on, any further requests on your account will be subject to a cool-down period of 3 days, and will only be allowed after mutual agreement on a deposit limitation.

Thanks again Hippo,
All the best ! Enzo "

Now, that is first class!!!! it's like saying, "we are sorry to see you go, but if you ever decide to play again, we want to make sure you've had time to think about it and want to help you from overdoing it."

Thank you Enzo and 3dice for a wonderful experience and for respecting and appreciating your players.

p.s. babs, it's kinda the opposite for me and my wife. we used to go to our local indian casinos twice a month and would lose about 600-1000 each time. so playing online the last few months for me has actually saved me quite a bit of money and driving time(1.5-2 hours each way). plus i don't remember the last time i had as much fun playing B & M versus online at 3dice, though i miss the free buffets = ) . with the christmas holiday coming up, i'm looking forward to a break from gaming.

have had to slow down tremendously because i was going to school and basically still am, i have 1 week of my externship left and for income i was on unemployment plus my wife gets ssi, so her money went to rent and bills and my little unemployment checks went for any extras we wanted or special things for my son but it has been very hard to enjoy myself online with a very limited income, but i have managed to keep my virtual stable going and i make a casino deposit around once every week or two and then it's gonna be between $30 and $50 at most so i guess i'm saying that we can enjoy ourselves even on very tiny budgets, but i doubt i would ever feel like completely stoping :D

HO-HO-NO!!

Hi everyone, been away for awhile, hope everyone is on a winning streak!! Not me I'm afraid, dropped another $700 between 3Dice and Villento last weekend, OUCH!! For some reason I really like to play that damn HOHOHO slot and lost most of it there. That game is so decieving! I don't mean dishonest or anything, it just slowly chips away at you so that it seems like you are doing well when in fact you are caught in the slow moving whirlpool!
Also played at 3D for a few hundred and really got nowhere with the slots, but had a good time with the video poker.

The truth is that the right time will never come for all you old familiar members here. We love the quest as much as the prize. I know that there have been several times that I am up a couple of K and all I can think about is MORE MORE MORE. Knowing this is the case, I think I am going to just try and play for small change for awhile. (Notice I said TRY!!)

Happy holidays guys!

..........dont you just hate that" slow moving ""money sucking ""rip you off ""damn it to hell ""freakin whirlpool"? im tired of being sucked under or is it sucked in?...laurie

what I hate the most is a superdry moments after a good spin.
Yesterday for example, I started with 100 and rightaway I had a good feature
and doubled to 200+, I than lowered my bet from 40c to 20c...............
Well it did go for over 1200 spins without s***t...........and took it all back, including my 100 of course............this really SUCKS IMO:mad:

Dammit! I'm here for the party. If I thought I could outthink or outluck a machine, I sure wouldn't be struggling with every one else.

I love the hunt, I love the rollercoaster... but it has to be fun or I won't do it. That takes a lot of things: Number one (i hate this part) Disposable income:eek2: I have to be willing to dispose of it. I don't have that right now, so I'm not gambling.
I also have to have a 'live and let live' attitude if I want to be happy gamer. I'm butthurt because I'm currently a lifetime loser at the moment.... I have 'probably' spent more than I have taken in (didn't track pre-uigea, nor bonus plays)

I won't touch gambling with a ten foot pole if I can't happily and easily absorb the loss.

I didn't quit while i was ahead, and I won't gamble milk money, and I have NO CLUE whether I will ever be on the 'upside' again. But I'll give it a shot when I can afford to :)

When to call it off? When it isn't fun. Yeah!

good question, hard to answer. for me i just love to play. "winning" is always fun but the money truly is not a factor. aside from hitting 8 million on mega bucks nothing is gonna change my life. i strongly believe if money was a factor i would feel different. i have friends who play and hitting 10 or 20k is big deal. it should be. pay off a car or use it for the kids, etc... i do not get that kind of "rush" so it is hard to justify the love of playing. i am not kidding when i tell you i will take 15k to vegas for a week but can still have a blast playing a dollar a spin online. i really dont get it. cards is different. just the thrill of competition is enough. good question lj. now ya got me thinking.

I'm surprised no one has referred to this page:
https://sussexmskpartnershipeast.com/quit-gambling/

It's linked to every page of Casinomeister to include my sig. :D

Tips on what else to do with your "gambling time", up to quitting altogether. I think every gambler to take a look at this section now and then.

And if you have useful content to add to this, you can post it here or start another thread.

Obviously the most important thing is to stick with a budget.

Another thing that helps to maximize the budget is to set time and amount limitations.

Depending on your bankroll, set a time, like a half hour. Then you reevaluate where you are. If you are on either a losing streak and still have money, or on a winning streak and have doubled your money, quit right there for the day. If you are about the same, you can do another half hour if you like.

That way you have another chance the next day to get out of the hole or to win even more. You are not playing until broke, and you are not chasing a win, which can be worse than chasing losses even. How many of us were considerably ahead at one point just to lose it all?

If you leave and come back later, you will have a whole new outlook.

If you don't have the control to do that, try depositing in two casinos. It will help give you control, because when you reach the time limit you can leave the funds in casino 1 and go and play at casino 2 for the same goal.

You will feel a lot better about the whole experience and have more fun for longer if you do it that way.

When you hit a point where you think you have lost so much there is not much left and are tempted to just do away with the rest of it, a bright red bulb should come on in your head and you should leave. Even a small amount left will let you try another day, and you will be in a different state of mind.

When you have won so much that you get careless and want to play more and more, fix an amount when you will quit and come back for it. If one doesn't chase the wins, one actually wins!

I only play at afew. But it's only for pennies.I rather save it for the real casino.I play for entertainment. This is why I don't do that screenshot thing lol I would feel bad if I hit a big one.
And i'm not a cheapskate at all means.
You just have to stick with a budget and leave it.Don't go crazy.

As what the economy is today. You just have to think of many things.and what comes first in life.Family or losing everything you have.If that's the case of losing everything you have. You have to stop going after the Pot Of Gold at the end of the rainbow.
If you do have play money that you can afford that's great if you don't. Don't Gamble Anymore.
Before you lose everything you have many great organization that will guide you in the right direction of peace.
You have to think what is better a child in a warm bed or sleeping in some warm Dumpster. And for someone older living in a car. This would make me think twice to stop pissing it away.I would make every effort to Stop Playing.
At this time I know two people that live in a car jumping from one casino to the next living in the parking garage. This is sad.And they both don't want any help what's so ever.
I say gamble what you can afford.

.....very well said tom, this is why i stick to a budget but there are so many like you said that go way beyond the deep end.i guess my problem is i hate not being able to play where i want now, like back before the law passed, i was doing great, could play anywhere i wanted. it just now that the u.s player is limited and i guess thats what makes it not fun for me, its kinda like the casinos that accept u.s players have us over the barrel so to speak.maybe things will change and get better soon, i hope for the u.s players.

I like many others on here have stopped playing all together at any online casino. It has been a few months for me now and I don't miss it a bit. I played pretty much daily but it became such a hassle to withdraw that it stopped being fun for me.

The online casinos have no problem taking deposits but any time I took a bonus and made the wagering requirements I spent more time going back and forth with customer support to get paid that it made the whole experience for me not worth the effort.

The last straw for me was when an acreditted casino on here just basically told me that I wasn't going to be paid what they owed me and there was nothing I could do about it. I did the whole emailing back and forth for a week, pitched a bitch, emailed some more to their support then just got tired of the excuses.

The funny thing is that I don't miss it a bit, since I live in the USA it was getting hard for me to deposit and the constant hassle trying to withdraw made the time I spent gambling not relaxing at all for me.

I just found your PAB and for some reason it was not logged in. Sorry. I can still check this out, but this has to do with a bingo bonus - not a payout. PM me for more info on this.

I still play all the time but now only at a few select casinos. Before the regulations came in I would play at a lot of different online casinos, but I have to say due to the depositing/withdrawal NIGHTMARES it has taken allllllllllll or most of the fun out of it for me.

I was way more luckier when I played at more casinos online and very unlucky since narrowing my deposits to just a few, the casinos I now deposit at I only play in because I know if i did win big I would GET MY MONEY!!!

I don't wish to sound flippant, but I said "I've had enough (of losing)" back in 2001.
Since that time when I changed my objectives I have made consistent (fairly modest) profits from playing online casinos year after year & never looked back.

I play just about every day, which I know is rather sad really, but I'm still happy & enjoying it.
I often think I ought to take a break, or at least cut down a bit but it's very hard to do - I guess I'm pretty well hooked.
I agree with the posts above; if you're losing money (or at least, losing more than you are happy about) or not enjoying it then it is time to stop.

Thanks for your input.

Hey Laurie,
I personally have had the same feelings. However I look at it as entertainment
$100 bucks here and there, doesn't hurt if you can afford it. If you feel your being taken down by a particular casino, just go to another one. I'm currently up on Bookmaker.com $1,450 and Betcris.com for $2,350. Anyways I've lost with other casinos and have gotten jipped by a few. Today before I send a large sum of money, I check the casino with just $100 if they give me a hassle I drop them like a hot potatoe and just don't waste anymore time.
