Hi everyone, I’m a Filipino and I’ve been hearing about the new regulations on online gambling here in the Philippines.

I’m a bit worried — does this mean we’ll only be able to play on PAGCOR-licensed casinos in the Philippines *snip*? Or will other international sites still be accessible?

Would appreciate it if anyone could share what they know. Thanks! 🙏

Interesting question. The last we heard PAGCOR had been dismantled (frozen?) by royal decree from the Filipino monarchy. From what we can see the official PAGCOR sites are dead in the water and haven’t been updated since 2023, lots of 404 pages and suchlike.

TBH until we see some evidence that PAGCOR is back in business and is legally allowed to license online casinos again for the Filipino market we’ll have to assume that IS NOT the case.

We do see items like this in the news:

So it looks like the existing licensees can continue to operate while new licenses are NOT being issued.

If you have legitimate info on any “new regulations” please do share that with us.

PS. pulled that link. Sorry, but it looked a little spammy, it was your first post, and we have no credentials on the site you linked to.

Hi Max,

Haha, that was a good one. I must have missed the breaking news about the Filipino monarchy taking absolute power. I guess I should watch out for royal guards shutting down the slot machines next.

And about the link, no worries at all. Since it was my first post and I had no credentials, I understand why it looked suspicious. In a world where half the internet feels like a scam, it makes sense to play it safe. I’ll focus on building some trust here before trying again.

It was only the Philippines Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) that were outlawed. I believe POGOs would get their licence from an existing domestically licenced company who were allowed to issue POGO licences.

Whilst PAGCOR is not granting new licences to domestic operators since the moratorium, there is definitely a portion that are still operating as normal. And ofcourse they still licence hundreds of brick and mortar gaming establishments.
