Any activities that can somewhat replace gambling

Surprised at the lively discussion so soon. I would say, nobody has managed to suggest anything that is anywhere near as exciting as gambling, so, perhaps that's just how it is

Honestly the only things that may come close, that come to my mind, are illegal.

pretty much any activity that requires your time and keeps you off the computer
join a league of some sort; there's still the thrill of competition
get a gaming system with long and multiple levels
get a dog - they require attention
gardening
interact with people outside the pc
volunteer

The "rush" has never been the biggest factor in my gambling. I'd say video games comes closest for me, for accomplishing something, spending time engaged, and something to do.

One of the most thrilling things I have did was the Skelton Run at Olympic Park in Calgary. Head first on a sled down an olympic slide. It's no longer open to the public, after a death a few years ago.

You put a lot on the line getting up on stage. Maybe go do an open mike somewhere, do a comedy one if you can't sing.

Porn, reading (aside from porn), metal detecting, destroy-it-yourself, gardening or collecting things from say small auctions, boot sales etc.
I can vouch for four of those pastimes.

Games in general, I miss Q&Q Red Alert :(
Waiting for the new Fifa to hit the PS store and I might buy a race simulator and F1 2019.

Used to love metal detecting but had to pack up for health reasons, does have some things in common with gaming
and is a damn site more healthy, there was always a chance of finding something special like hitting a jackpot, and every signal
gave you a buzz even though 90% were ring pulls or nails, Do miss it.

I'm king of the horseshoes....

It does not provide the same kind of thrill as gambling, but I get a great deal of satisfaction and spend a lot of time on food. I skipped last weekend due to the VS battles, but today I am slow roasting tomatoes from my garden, and starting a ferment for Naga chilies, the hottest pepper I have grown to date. I was a somewhat honoured that a friend asked for some of my fermented grainy beer mustard as a gift for her mom's 80th birthday this week. Mustards are surprisingly simple to make, more so than jams and jellies.

I spent hours pitting cherries and making jam a few weeks ago, so worth all the effort.

I don't can however. I did a lot helping my mom in childhood, miserable hot business IMO. Freezer or stuff that is good in the fridge for a long time (high acid like the hot sauces and mustard, or high sugar like jams).

I love summer, but I welcome the cooler weather and a return to the stove.
