BetMGM and Bookies cancelling bets

So I saw a new news story where BetMGM has cancelled winning sports bets. Both massive amounts, one was $400k and the other was over $200k. BetMGM cancelled the winning bets for the reason "obvious error". Of course it was only obvious after they loss. One got paid eventually after he took them to court... the other is still waiting.
I've also seen Ladbrokes cancel winning bets saying that it should never have been accepted. The snow on Christmas day comes to mind.

I find it pretty disgusting these companies are able to do this where if they make a mistake its just tough shit. If they give ods and accept a bet they should be forced to pay up. After all, I can't use the excuse I made a mistake and get my money back if I lose. Surely it goes both ways.

In Australia TAB honours mistakes and have publicly said, if they make a mistake its their fault and they will pay regardless. Its a shame that every other bookie doesn't do the same. After all, how do we know if its a mistake or if they are just using that as an excuse not to pay.

Its hard enough to win with bookies, these companies should pay if they lose and not try and find a way out of it.
