Casinos In Bucharest, Romania

My work takes me to Bucharest in a couple of weeks. Booked into Radisson Blu in central Bucharest Sun - Thurs which I believe has a casino.

If anyone has any info, tips, experience of gambling here I would be most grateful, not too much info searching online.

Thought I would update the thread with my experiance in case anyone finds it useful.

Bucharest has several proper casinos with live games and slots, and many other "electronic" casinos with just slots.

All drinks are free at either the main casinos or the slots only ones, a big BOOM

I stayed at the Radisson Blu hotel which has a casino attached, it cost £10/$15 to enter but they give you a chip to this value which you can play on BJ or roulette.

The casino had all the usual table games, with standard rules. It was a really nice casino, the staff are excellent and all speak English. They have a wonderful free buffet which is as good as going to a posh restaurant it was that good!

Minimum bets are £1 on roulette (£5 even chances) £10 on Blackjack and £5 on poker table games.

The Palace casino was about the same but didnt have the same buzzing atmosphere as the Radisson casino.

Overall had a lovely time, lost a bit but could have been worse apart from a last night recovery!

Nice to hear you had a good time in Bucharest. The capital of my birth country, although i was born in Brasov / Kronstadt, Transylvania.

Bucharest was once called Paris of the East, this goes back to the 19th century when the Royal family and the country had strong ties with France. Until today one is considered to be posh when he/she can speak French. Unfortunately, the communists demolished big parts of the old city and build their square blocks in place to better control people.

Did you know that during Ceaucescu's time people living on the boulevard leading to his 'palace' would have to line the street and applaud every time he was driving by. The famous "Securitate" people would knock on the doors before his arrival and people would have to rush downstairs.

The gambling industry is in a big boom there, very often driven by not so legal or semi-legal groups. Nowadays even in smaller villages you will find a slots only pub/casino.

Haven't been back for a visit since 2009 and not planning to go again so soon. Too much has changed since i left the country in 1984, not many of my childhood memories are still there. My village has changed completely.
