Crap DDoS Attack

Last night my site was subjected to what I would call a 'crap' DDoS attack which lasted several hours. Very similar to the ones that knocked out the forum here on CM the other week and also the forum on GoneGambling. Incidentally Affiliate Guard Dog was knocked out by a suspected DDoS over the weekend, finally coming back online a couple of days ago. Below is my take on it.

At least you suffer from a 'nice' sort of wind when making your vids.

Hi Webzcas

We had something similar occur less than a year ago. It was some sort of scraper bot trying to lift all the images off GS. Whatever or whoever was doing it was causing enough aggro to knock the site over for a short while. The result was we realised we needed to tighten up security around requests for content and also look a bit closer at the traffic that was coming to our site. I am sure you are doing this, but just wanted to let you know you are not alone...

It definitely wasn't a scrape, unless it was using hundreds of different IP addresses to perform a scrape.
