Really sad news this morning being reported that Liverpool and Portugal player Diogo Jota has died in a car crash in Spain earlier this morning. The 28 year old's brother also died in the fatal accident. 😢

More on this:

28 years old and driving a Lambo. Not saying he was at fault, blowouts can and do happen, but blimey. I know when I was younger I would have been more reckless driving. I assume everyone else would.

Regardless, a tragedy and he only got married two weeks ago. :-(

Not the kind of news we're accustomed to, and it certainly saddened me to hear of his passing.

By all accounts the road they were travelling on had been described as 'one of the worst in Spain', and with a suspected faulty tyre, once everything played out at overtaking speed, there really wasn't anything that could be prevented.

Particularly sad given his recent wedding to his childhood sweetheart and that he had his whole life ahead of him at 28. R.I.P Diogo and Andre :(

I read that players often have lots of cars they very rarely use in their home country and as a result they end up losing tire pressure whilst disused. Might have contributed to the blowout

What a miserable day its been catching up on all the news and people paying there respects. It seems that he was not able to fly by plane to Liverpool to start Pre-Season, based on advice given to him by his Doctor, instead he was driving his car to a ferry to take him to Liverpool.

But the news is reporting that one of the tryes popped when he attempted to take over another car in the lane next to him or them rather, So people can piece together what most likely happened. But we dont no for sure.

Its also sad that his Brother who died also in the same car with him isnt getting the same press, but i guess thats to be expected as he wasn't as well known as his brother Diogo was.

R.I.P Diogo Jota

I always felt Liverpool was a really really amazing club even tho I don't support it but Wow. Clubs always honor legends but this was a guy who was at best a fan favorite objectively, class act by Liverpool indeed. And there are going to be more gestures. The teammates too what they are saying. Taking care of Diogo's family. Simply amazing.
