I'm on vacation in the US (Traveling). I checked out the Harrah's Casino in New Orleans. Very cool!! Over 2100 slots!! And finally if not online, at least land-based i could play the WMS slots like wizard of oz! Very cool but i bustes out even faster than online. I start to feel the lower rtp Which slots should i check if i go back?

When I go land based I rotate over to Ruby Slippers. Similar to Wizard of Oz but seems to pay out more often.

If you can accept to play without the flashy graphics and nice sounds, I would consider trying some of the rather old school slots..

I have had great luck on espcially the "top dollar" slots, I always pick the old-school 3 reels, that has the "double double" feature and require two coins (not three) to activate the top-dollar feature. I do not play it unless I have the bankroll for min. 100 spins - but these have been very kind to me in the past. (there are multiple version, I go for the ones with 0.50$ coin denominations, but have seen some at 5$ and even 25$) I think my best session with these was on a 100$ bankroll with a two coin (2$) version, that gave a hit of 220$ x2 x2 for 880$
My "accept-strategy" on top dollar is never accet anything below 40x and never reject anything above - thats slightly more conservative than the suggestion in the instructions, but it works for me.

Another type of land-based slots I have had good hits on, are the "straight multiplier" three-reels with sevens and bars. I Always look for one where the top jackpot is max. 1000x times bet or even as "low" as 400x bet - and where the paytable is a straight multiplier in regards to the number of coins based (except for a slight extra for the top jackpot)- finding one of those at 0.50 or 1$ and running sessions of 50-100 spins have given me some of my best results. Last time I was in Vegas, i played a 1$ a coin version and hit 400, 200, 150, 2x 100 and several 50$ returns in less than 400 spins

While online I always play videoslots, but on landbased they always seem to suck me dry, with very bad bonus rounds, or none at all

Yes ,its new orleans very crooked state, probably a lot lower payout then other states. Personally I woud take the 1 15 minute drive to Biloxi , where there are more casinos and payout is a little better.

A seasoned online player can very soon feel the lower payouts in U.S. land-based casinos.

If its hot its hot. I really dont like Top Dollar. Now I like to play it, but never seem to win much. I have played them quite a bit in mostly $5 denomination. Ive hit a few $1200 - $2400 jackpots hit the top 1000 credtis once, but it seems like more of a "gimmick" type machine. The bonus feature drags people in to play it, but you rarely get a nice line pay, and the good bonuses are few and far between. I do only play the one with the 2x feature. The hit you got for $880 is probably one of the top bonuses next to the 1000 credits.

New Orleans is a fabulous place to be. I had the privilege of being there for Xmas 2004, and I'd love to visit again. But pretty much every gambler I met on the boat told me they did better in biloxi.

Eat some crawdaddies, go to Preservation Hall and Paddy O'Brien's, and go on a riverboat cruise with a mediorcre jazz bnad and middling food. You wont' regret it.

Oh, and if you don't spend all your dosh at the casnos, spend it on a breakfast/brunch at Brennans. Home of Bananas Foster and back inthe day how they replace the coffee with Folgers.

I have my own trip planned shortly, but New Orleans is special, dont' miss it inside a casino or two.

Jasmine is correct. Lots to do in New Orleans, no need to spend too much time in the casino. If you get the urge to gamble, almost all bars in new orleans have a few video poker machines. Spend lots of money on good restaurants, there are tons of them.

I will try my luck again in th harrah's casino in tunica (mississippi) 140'000 square feet woohoo.

But first 2 more days in beautiful Nashville!!

I personally cant stand Harras Casinos, way too big of a casino group, they are losing lots of money lately (economy--people dont have enough money for them to steal) and they dont take care of players as well as smaller casino groups. The problem is everywhere you go there is harrahs. Actually right there in Tunica they have Harrahs, Horseshoe & sheraton. Sheraton & Horseshoe are right next to each other. Also try the Horseshoe, its a pretty good size casino, and I believe that they get plenty of play there.

Harrah's New Orleans is probably the worst major casino to gamble in the entire USA. For gambling in the South, it is ALL about Biloxi. For great food, music, drinks, history, and culture--it's all about the BIG EASY!
