Remembering dead NetEnt slots - RIP

In nostalgia mode, as we near the end of another year, I was looking through my NetEnt screenshots folder with a tear in my eye for some of the great games they once had but were scrapped :(

So here I share some of my best wins from games which are no longer with us... starting with the ones I miss the most.
(If you know of any of these which DO still exist - please tell me!)
Also, if you have any of your own - please feel free to post them in this thread!

Read more about this developer and find casinos with NetEnt slots
Evolution was such a good slot, I absolutely loved it. Beach is one you don't have there, that was great too. Both were medium sort of volatility but if you matched your stake to your bankroll it was almost always possible to see them out to some solid hits.

Ooohhhh Wild Rockets too, that was fab.

Probably quite a few more that'll come back to me eventually :)

Oh and let's not forget Blood Suckers on its original 98% RTP, not the most exciting of slots but remarkably, back in the day, could be used for wagering on bonuses at quite a few casinos :)

The utter lack of any regard whatsoever that online slots developers have for their back-catalogues is shocking TBH, at least in the realm of videogames or fruit machines we have emulation to fall back on, but many of these games are just gone forever, never to be seen or played again.

Frankenstein went, all because a german dude found a loophole. Sad, was a great game indeed.

Wild Rockets was a cracker of a game - unlike some slots, it wasn't scared to bonus on decent stakes - it was actually Xmas time, many, many years ago i had probably one of my top 5 sessions with it: given something like a 100 quid bonus from Victor Chandler, 4-4.5k wagering and just went quids on it. Played for ages on the quids, kept coming up, upped, kept coming and ended up cashing out 3.5k (no cap) from 1-2 quid spins

Unlike Bonanza, it gave something like 3 400-500x bonus's out of 200 spins: bizarre session to say the least.

Fast forward nearly a decade: cough

I loved Evolution, with the flying sqirrels not f*cking 'monkeys' lol

I remember one New Year's Eve playing Wishmaster for only the second time, got the keys to the vault with 6 FS left, resulting in 3 wild-screens and over 3000x bet.

Netent were masters of medium variance, back when most games were, providers weren't quite as greedy as today, and the 'high variance' insanity took hold, killing off any actual fun for the player.

Designers still knew how to keep players engaged and provide a product, and this led to what I consider to be slotting's golden age, circa 2012-15.

Games were lowroller-friendly and gave some real bang for buck, and so were revered. And whilst they would have held up on their own merit, coupled with great reload bonuses galore, it made for some spankingly good slotting!

It was a close thing between Microgaming and Netent, but the latter edged it in terms of games portfolio and a certain 'charm' in their creative designs, the likes of which we've lost since, despite all the supposed 'better' production values of modern slots....

Netent covered all the bases, and apart from the aforementioned classics, I loved the likes of Pandora's Box, Muse, Lucky Angler and so forth. It really was a splendid way to wile away the hours, lose some, win some.

Their undoing was initially their pursuit of licensed IP, with some tremendous conversions in the form of South Park, but real stinkers like Aliens.

And the day that marked the end of their greatness would have to be Planet of the Chimps, a game so overhyped yet undercooked, and from which the company never regained its lustre. But for now, let's rejoice at their once majestic standing as slot rulers, because they certainly were ?

That Bitchmaster win above was my biggest x bet on Netent ever, 3200x approx, and the bottom one at Unibet was 1040x bonus on Wild Rockets, my second-best on Netent. My best on Twit Spin was 54x bars or 810x. Got a 650-odd x on Big Bang but games like South Park and Evolution were pretty much 3-400x territory if you got an outstanding bonus round, but there were plenty of them. Wankenstein was ok before it was pulled when an *error* was spotted in regards to landing the bonus. We can't forget another of their classics, Steam Tower. But most of them had nice graphics, good interfaces and sounds. It was shame they also made rather too many juvenile-themed ones or Hentai-style graphics and from a top-notch developer with a great portfolio present at almost every multi-platform casino, their sudden implosion was something like this present government's from a quite popular PM with 80-odd seats in hand to where it is now - surprising and not predictable at the time.

So yes, I can connect with the eulogising regarding Netent despite my criticism of many latter slots, same as I can with the demise of MG Viper casinos and their lack of development since the days of TFRoL and Jurassic Park, now handed over to in-house partner studios like JFTW.

Evolution and Wild Rockets 2 of the best slots from the past - had some great wins of Evo ... I remember when Netent releases were something to look forward to - with very fair RTPS and innovation behind them. Twin spin in the flash days was a game I would play every session and had some great hits on it. So unlike the garbage they push out these days.

Frankenstein went, all because a german dude found a loophole. Sad, was a great game indeed.

There was discussion and debate about this back when it happened.

Of course no one ever did find out the facts at the time, now its gone never to return, do you know exactly or even an idea of what this loophole was please?

Why are you talking like they are no longer about? Those 2 are still going strong!

I actually thought Eggomatic might be gone - since it is not at Videoslots. But I have discovered that at other casinos it is still very much alive & clucking! :D

Anyways - here's some more that actually ARE dead (as far as I know)...

Soooo many fun games gone ?

I have a few more to come...

KK

60’s 70’s and80’s theme slots were some of my fav along with Frankenstein and Wild Rockets
Attraction i played a bit aswell
Never did fancy South Park for sone reason ?
Now i only dip my money into Wild Turkey and Creature from the black lagoon every now and then
Used to be exiting when new games were coming out from Netent and Microgaming
Now its few spins never to return ?
Maybe new releases of some old classics might do the trick ?

This thread is making me positively dewy-eyed!

Just seeing the likes of Demolition Squad is making me sick, but in a good way. It was one of the first NE games I'd delved into, and thought it was a lil' bit zany, with so much style and creative flair.

Fisticuffs I thought I'd hate, but as a 'rolling' type slot with no defined free spins bonus, I actually grew to like its charms, as it also made for a good balance-enhancer (remember when that was a 'thing'?)

Not seeing much love for the original Space Wars here though......for all its sins, it was eminently playable and was entertaining.....

And as for Reel Steal, what will beat its 'just right' pain threshold?

This is not exclusive to NETent mg did the same thing with many of their classic games as well, thing that is shitty with this is there is no sense of preservation, ever since the internet we have been preserving everything on sites such as archive.org, from some obscure spectrum game produced in the 80s, through to modern games, books, dvds and blu rays everything is archived but with slot games they are just gone forever, wiped from existence.

Yes, it is a sad thing. Whereas with most digital media, it gets preserved in some state, though I'd imagine Netent still have all the original code for these IPs of theirs?

Likely reason they'll be kept under lock and key however, and not made available for emulation is people's penchant to reverse-engineer them to some extent, or even better, have certain cup 'o' cocoa clipjoints use that software, those nefarious bastards

I know a bit ;)
Was releated to adjusting winlines

Yes, Failiens went along with South Park & SP Reel Chaos, others that have gone (some here @KasinoKing has already mentioned) Attraction, Bollywood Story, first Berryburst, Copy Cats, Go Bananas, Hit 2 Split, Hook's Heroes, Lucky Angler, Tragic Portals, Sparks, Spellcast, Swipe & Roll, The Phantom's Curse, Theme Park, Twit Spin Deluxe, Witchcraft Academy and Wonky Wabbits.

Did someone say a machine had a /cheat on it online? I had a system may aswell say it as the slot disappeared very quickly from the daily cash drop section on party poker, was a slot called 100k drop, based on the TV show, I never thought online slots could be cheated I believe I'm stood corrected, 2000x wins on the slot above mentioned the games never dissappear from the daily drop slots, wish I had rinsed it more before they got rid of it, just didn't expect a slot to be there one day took off every site overnight ?‍♂️, anyway I had took a tiny slice of my losses back if only for a few months. Great posts on here BTW those slots looked wicked.

Ghost Pirates is still available

Can't believe Copy Cats has gone - used to love that and had completely forgotten about it. Another I used to love playing was Theme Park Tickets of Fortune. Had a soft-spot for Hook's Heroes as well. Wish Master as well... blimey.
Netent were right at the front years ago when it came to innovation. Great ideas brilliantly executed - they were streets ahead of anyone else. The ideas came so thick and fast in those days that they rarely did clones or reskins; every game had something new and exciting about it.

I believe a few of their main guys went off and formed Yggdrasil, and Netent's games were never the same after that, many looked good on the surface but lacked the depth and charm of slots gone by. Then they had a few dogs (Streetfighter II for example), some of their back catalogue didn't make the jump to HTML5 and then the RTP's started to slump. Shadow of their former selves nowadays unfortunately. Still, we can all remember the good times, and Netent were bloody good, weren't they?

Old Flash player Netent slots were mostly great (could apply this to many other providers too, Rhino, Monty, IR, JP) nowadays mostly crap and can't remember the last time Netent put out a really good slot (Jungle Spirit?) all Red Tiger crap now.

Had a soft spot for Fisticuffs and Go Bananas and had some good hits and cleared loads of WR on them back in the day.

Great thread

Edit: Did also think good old Eggomatic had bit the dust as I only play at VS, good to hear it still lives, although unlikely I will get to lay it again (leaving the typo I just spotted :p) due to VS retiring it. Jingle Spin or whatever the clone is called just does not come close.

I remember having built my balance up to around £250-300 from a menial deposit, thought I'd have a bash at this odd-looking, simplistic slot called

'Arabian Nights'

Spun around six times, shat my pants, didn't win the jackpot, never played it again

From their newest games Space Wars 2 is pretty entertaining. Low volatility for todays standards and the bonus isn't that hard to get.

You know what? These threads have been here before, or something to it's tune, and i also find myself missing tons of old epic favorites...
Not only some great Netent titles such as you guys discussed (Demolition Squad, Attraction, Lost Island, the Funky series, Wishmaster, and many more), but also a lot of other providers..it's strange but i miss some of those old slots more than some of my old friends :D

That said, shouldn't we be able to have some sort of weird niche Casino, that targets 'old school gamblers' like myself, and most of us here, who would necro all those lost and dumped slots, if/where possible? I'd 100% sign up for that! Shouldn't be too hard with some sort of emulators, aggregators, archaic OS's, i'm sure they can figure it out :p

Anyone know how to get such a ball rolling?

OMG those games, Go Bananas, Wonky Wabbits, Theme park and South Park, I have memories to play until 4am some days :)
I am adding on also Planet of the Apes and Farm-something and that game of two characters punching - Box something :D wow, such a great memories! I am very surprised that those games are gone from their catalogue - that was what makes them really stand out in the market ;)

Man, Fisticuffs and Go bananas I was hooked like crazy + Planet of the Apes and that Farm Tornado or what was the name :D

Tornado Farm Escape.

OK, so here's my last batch NetEnt of slots I liked to play occasionally, but are no longer here...
(Including some that people have mentioned above)

I don't even remember this first one  but I found a screenshot of it from 2011:

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but another favourite I used to play, and when feeling particularly flush that I could brave 25p bets instead of the usual 20ps was Victorious. A well-made little number whose strength laid in its simplicity, and nicely done audio-visual design.

Secret of the Stones is another modern classic that perhaps doesn't get the plaudits it deserves, despite its fantastic bonus potential setup. Yes, it may have lost 'something' in the dreaded HTML port, but when wanting to throw a Hail Mary on low balances, and DOA just not appealing, there's few games better, shirley

And lest we forget Scarface, Netent's first decent foray into licensed territory, meaning that when tasked to honour the IP, they were capable of delivering the goods. Yeah the 'grid' bonus was kind of terrible and near-enough pre-set, but there was enough variation in the base game and onscreen variety that it somehow never got boring. Back when Netent weren't cocka-roaches :D

Mythic Maiden is definitely still around!

I played Wonderland and Magic Portals were not so long ago, but I can't find them anymore so they must've been removed recently.

Missed one!
Don't know how, because I had a MASSIVE 517x win on it
Mind you, I obviously didn't play it very much, as this was the ONLY win over 100x that I had on it...

I loved this one! I rememeber when the 'thing' was when you'd get match up Free Spins or loyalty Free Spins in many Casinos, redeemable ona wide range of Netent slots! I'm sure many of us always cheekily went to either this one, or the Groovy series for the higher denomination/value!

Deffo served me well on a few occasions, even recall an insta-cashout when i got the feature on spins with no WR :D
Crazy how big Netent was in those days!

Pragmatic just re-skin these but make them almost impossible to win on.

Plagiarizing the 'look' of a game or provider doesn't the same game make, as commented upon. Most software houses are more than capable of producing good graphics, sound etc (albeit Netent had a 'charm' unique to them)

And as much as the front end of a game is important from a 'pick up and play' perspective, the reason players were drawn to the likes of NE was that medium-variance ruled the roost, and so you could be sure that the gameplay alone could sustain a session AND entertain the player, ie customer.

A far cry from today's pseudo-clones of far better games, where modern companies believe customers owe them their loyalty based on some limp-ass licence or edgy theme, because that's apparently what matters to players!

Start tinkering with the variance too much and it becomes unbearable. It'd be akin to watching the Antiques Roadshow and basking in the serenity of it all, laughing as morons try to pawn granny's earrings in the hope of making millions, before unbeknownst to you, in that calm haze, the cat decides to apply all of its weight onto the Volume button, and you recoil in horror as Fiona Bruce bellows through the screen as the bars tick up to 100.

Give me Netent slots over the 'modern' titles any day. I'd rather spend an hour in a newsagent watching chavs squeal with delight as they win £20 on a scratchcard after having spent £50 of their CP than play Pratmatic or any of their ilk. But each to their own eh :D

Was playing Dishwasher fairly recently now if only I could remember where it was?
