Like most modern slots by NetEnt, Wild Wild West: The Great Train Heist is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot with 10 fixed betting lines.

What sets this game apart are the four different Wild features that can be triggered in Free Spins: Regular Wild, Expanding Wild, X2 Multiplier Wild and a Spreading Wild.

A Pick and Click feature awards a coin win of up to x50 your bet. So fire the six-shooter, and crack your whip; it’s time to giddy up partna'!

Wild Wild West truly shines in the bonus features department. The highlight here is definitely the Free Spins mode which can be activated whenever you hit three or more Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels during the main game.

Before your Free Spins session starts, you’ll be presented with the Wild Selector Wheel on the screen. Click on the STOP button to stop the arrow from spinning and trigger the Wild feature it lands on.

There four types of Wild symbols that can be selected and activated during Free Spins:

1. Regular Wild
2. Expanding Wild
3. X2 Multiplier Wild
4. Spreading Wild

What happens next is undoubtedly the most exciting part of the game. A Wild symbol will be randomly overlaid on symbols on reels 1-3 in every spin, and remains active for the duration of the Free Spins session.

If you land on an Expanding or Spreading Wild, then the Wild symbol will gradually move and cover more symbols on the reels.

You could technically cover a lot of grid area with Wild symbols if you’re lucky enough!

I like the art style and general look of this game, so no evil puns forthcoming.

Maybe Netent can make Western-themed games that entertain.

I'll be sure to give this a shot!

* but for the purposes of insulting Netent by default, I'll rename this 'Wild Wild Wild - The Grate Brain Shiste', for now

Are they back on the right track d'ya think? After railing against their latest releases it'd be good though once I've played it awhile I'll probably be steaming with rage as it's on the Netent platform. Not siding with anyone here until I can gauge how it plays for myself.

First try today on this small deposit at 20€ = 1,5 hours gameplay no superhit, 6 features total after 600-700 ish spins. Took a screenshot on the "biggest hit" :what: gonna try it out later on again :p

This looks like a nice return to form for NetEnt after a disastrous year in general.
Not the most innovative as far as gameplay and features but it sure does look amazing.

Just played it for a decent session and what a let down. Graphically brilliant but NetEnt once again forgot about the gameplay. This slot is beyond boring. Sigh. Been saying the same about neary all their slots this year.

I quite enjoyed my small session on this. Free spins didn't seem too difficult to trigger and the expanding wilds boost has some good potential. Also hit a few 5OAK in base game to keep things ticking over. Will definitely play again.

Well I gave this slot a second chance. Works well on the mobile. Don't think it will become a favourite but free spins are quite regular so it is a reasonable little distraction.

Played it a few times now and I am nicely up on this slot.
Feature triggers quite frequent and some nice hits,no massive ones but decent enough to keep the balance slowly rising.
Actually one of the better Netent releases in a while.

Surprised to see you did not have one feature with a win over 200x stake Blathaon.
I really do like this slot and I already had a few FS round with wins around the 200-250x stake mark.
Must be just very lucky on this slot.

Well 100 features isn't that large of a sample so it's hard to say how rare a 200x+ win on this game is, but it sounds like you have done quite well :)

jesus christ those freespin returns are atrocious

I don't think it's that bad considering the high average pay of the feature and that the slot looks to be low/mid variance with a max win per spin of 500x. But it's not a slot i would play regularly.

Yeah it is a funny odd game really...
Play it nearly every time I have a slots session and the FS trigger quite regularly...
Never had to wait more than 150 spins or so...

On CasinoEuro I had back to back FS triggers which paid 87x stake and 120x stake so in total that was also over 200x stake within 2 spins.

I like the slot, plays very smooth and I like the sounds and all...

For me personally one of the better Netent slots. :)

After £100 in earlier, I just threw another £200 in at £1.60-2 a spin....its ALMOST as bad as divine fortune, no free spins, 2 shitty safe features where I won about 25x and my money just depleted at a sickening speed. Luckily I went on the old faithful Gemix at £5 a spin and withdrew £2000.

Definitely a standard netent slot then.

Jesus christ what is it with these new netents, im never a man to be defeated and gave it another go with a spare £150 at a modest £1.60 a spin, the last FIFTY quid went without me getting a win, one free spins feature which paid ok, about 60x, my first feature in about £500 of real cash on this slot, and the session lasted about 6 minutes again. How is anyone getting any play time on these new netent slots?

Over 1000 spins. 3 features all x2 wilds...no win in the bonus or base game over 30x....
no vault/safe bonus once....
Seriously was this game brought out as a early April fools?.. looks and sounds good, plays like a lump of hot dog poo.

My first impression is good. I got freespins twice in 25 spins. Both paid about 70x. Plus numerous safes.

Probably wont be as a good next time lol

I like the expanding wild

I've never had the safe's once!.. what's the payout like?.. can see a bit of potential in the bonus rounds, possibly only with a retrigger mind...I must be honest the base game is about as exciting as watching my dog eat her breakfast of a morning..(not exciting at all I may add!)

Got the safe 3 times yesterday on Casumo.
Think max pay is 50x stake.

Had 2000 coins (100 Euro) once on €2.00 bet so that was max prize and twice 600 coins which equalled €30.00 on €2.00 bets.
So it is not huge that you can win.

I love the FS tho.

The expanding wild can pay handsome.

Had 4 wilds expanding twice already and both paid well over 200x bet on that spin only.
Also had a retrigger with 4 scatters for 20 extra spins the other day.

I am very up on this slot, might leave it for a while now actually. :)

You guys make me sick!!! Haha
Well done on the wins tho, I originally thought the same of Motörhead, but the past 2 months that's been insane for me...netent variance!... where's dunover when you need him haha!..

This is only one of the very few slots that I am doing well on though.
Most slots are ripping my bankroll to shreds lately. ;)

Today was my first try on it. I got 4 safes and 2 free spins in about 75 spins. I was winning like 20x on the safes and saw one for 50x bet never picked it.

Same here. Ive been slaughtered lately. Just absolutely slaughtered. I took a bit of a break and just started a bit again. Short small sessions. It cost me money today because I was betting smaller than usual because im been abused so badly by slots ive been tentative. And now Im hitting like 100x-300x

Oh well atleast im not getting killed again.

I may possibly try 100 spins upon my next deposit. Does look like potential is there!..
and it's definitely better that bonanza!... :-)

slot as the art object?

hello everyone,

just want to ask: do you think that slots could be defined as the art object? I mean their design, cultural references, the way they attract us and make to play more and more...
this one is surely good. Although I'm not pretty astonished of the new NetEnt's, this one is good because of several reasons, such as the animation (greatly produced!) and the icons design.
but where exactly is the border between art (or just something that excites us) and the average slots design? I think you all, being interested in slots, have thoughts on this unusual question.

thanks! :D

A strange question indeed, but in answer to your question....they are no more an art object than any other game, they take preexisting ideas and shove them in your face with their own interpretation of them. I guess anything can be considered art but ultimately when looking at a digital medium, even a browser could be considered art from a design point of view so its a question that cant really be answered. It serves its purpose but its purpose isnt one of artistic merit, there are some fantastically designed slots, graphically speaking but I dont consider your average graphic designer to be an artist, especially when in the context of slots its used purely for a commercial point of view.

Its hard to answer I suppose but I struggle to see art in digital media unless its specifically created as art, graphics, logos etc arent that original and are fairly easy to create to a decent standard with a basic understanding of computing. I can create a half decent logo or graphics on here but I could never create a painting, a sculpture etc, and whilst anything can be called art, art generally evokes emotion and serves a purpose, I dont think I would ever stare at a slot symbol and analyse it or think of its meaning or intent, I just think, FUCK YOU PAY ME.

There is nothing artistic about slots, they are functional at best. You could say Netent & co have slot design down to an artform in that they combine graphics, sound and gameplay features to make exciting products.

Thematically, some games are quite engrossing but when all is said and done slot games pale in comparison to other media, such as videogames. There you might have the debate about whether a game like Rez or Shadow of the Colossus are deemed as art for example, but with videoslots it's a passive, non-interactive and soulless endeavour

The closest game to being artistic was a slot Dunover reviewed a couple of months ago, it had several layers of confusing stacked symbols and had an Asian theme - can't remember the name of it.....

But slots will never be artistic as there is no emotional reaction to be had when pressing spin, and most still look like terrible Amiga games

Oh and Wild Wild West isn't artistic either, but in terms of static boxed logos it gets a 6/10 :o

Was ill many a day in school which was coincidently the same time a good friend who owned an amiga that had fruitys on was ill, so we had a reason to be err ill together. Some were absolute games.
One fruity had 50 features. Nuff said.
He could design spectrum games from the age of 10., May he, and the amiga, rip. (I had an atari st and always argued it was better, and for what its worth. It wasnt)

Art!?

What does art belong to you? Something that "worthy, established" or something that was baptized by fire and passed the time test?

It all depends on the outlook. We all know that Rembrandt or Donizetti are great, but when talk about something new - can't say the same.

I agree that art should be separated from the professionalism. Though why slots are so lovely? It is designed for our desire, for the perfection of the moment we play. But to talk about impression, we can be impressed even by the sunlight. I meant it. When I'm gazing either of Stravinsky or playing slots - I'm thinking not just "fuck you pay me" (although it's important) but enjoying the moment I spend by playing.

Probably we can't answer the question "slots as an art object" until we are not sure about what we call art: is it really something that well-know and recognized or everything that surprises us!?

To talk about your phrase that you can't make art: maybe your design is the kind of it? Remember pop-art, they just took images from comics, they were lampooned. But know it's well-recognized kind of art throughout the world.

So I think that slots also could be unique: sound, picture, design, combination of it...

Everything can be called art if we are deal what we call art.

Impression art

More difficult is better. I mean you said that Dunover slot was made decompounded. But it's like food or other stuff in our life: you can be okay with fast-food or can search something better.

Purely designed slots annoy me sometimes. I don't see the reason to play it otherwise to win cash. But my question you were so kind to answer is also about our targets: why are we playing? Just to win money or to enjoy the moment or maybe both!?

Slots maybe can't be artistic, there I agree. But you can be satisfied of playing, of spinning and so on. And your impression of art could be equal to impression of playing.

And that's way videoslots exist, gamblers don't want just to press "the button", they are looking for something more. For example, I really enjoy "Guns'n'Roses slots" for its music and icons design, it impacts my experience.

So slots can't be artistic, our impression of it - can.

You're right about that....I'd assume you enjoy the G'n'R slot because of your personal fondness of the band, which transcends the game's design shortcomings. Same as if they made a Faith no More or RHCP slot, it might be awful from a technical or artistic standpoint but I'd love it by default (don't get any ideas, Netent!).

Same as if a Picasso game was released, it may be aesthetically pleasing but has no personal impression and is boring as hell to play, this is why art is experience-based.

So unless it's thematically- appropriate to the individual, all artistic value is lost due to the medium's limitations. There is talk of upcoming virtual reality slots that offer more immersion but if the games are lacklustre then no amount of pressing 'spin' is going to be deemed art either, but the potential is there somewhere.

We do want to win money but want to do that in the most satisfying way possible, often on our preferred games. So as players we can be quite demanding, but the true artform lies in having a great session and spending hours playing all manner of games and attaining large sums from small means. When looking back on sessions like that it feels like a masterpiece of clever slot play, and that's where the true art lies

Played this for the first time yesterday at low stakes just to see what it was like. Great production values as usual. Had the feature 3 times and got the spreading wilds each time from the spinner for reasonable returns. Will no doubt play it again to see what the other feature presentations do. I would assume that the expanding wilds one is the best, but you never know... Also had the 3 safes come in a couple of times and picked the highest value of the three both times which was nice.
