What are your favourite Bonus Round mechanics?

For me it's DOA2 Train Heist. It's not a huge win potential bonus but the wild adding a spin and 1x to the multiplier makes it my favourite bonus. It's also interesting that the focus of the bonus changes for me as it progresses.

Early on I'm more interested in hitting the wilds just to build up the multiplier and hope that it happens early enough so the +5 spins at 16x leave a decent amount of spins for the rest of the bonus.

After you get a decent multiplier is when the focus changes to wanting some nice win lines to hit a decent return. There's an odd kind of regret if you get a low 5OAK early. The only time I got 5OAK bottles the multiplier was at 1x as no wilds were landing but that did!

It's also very unpredictable. Sometimes the multiplier goes high and nothing lands and other times the multiplier will be less than 10x and you hit something like a 5OAK A or K or a few smaller 5OAK and it will save the bonus round. One time it reached 11 or 12x and I thought "this one will be poor" and I land double 5OAK K which was very surprising and made it a nice 200x return.

It also takes a good few minutes to complete usually. A high multiplier round can go a very long time for a bonus round.

JATB also has a great bonus design but it's pretty much always dead for me, also eats your balance to get to it usually! I did get the full screen of harps once though so I have experienced it's highlight. Not bad considering I had only been giving it an occasional go for a couple of months or so.

I think I like bonus rounds that have a "could go on forever" feel to them like those two.

Big Bad Bison's bonus round is different with the minimum megaways gauge that increases per two coins that drop. Also, two or more coins gives more spins. It's just a not a very volatile bonus game.

DOA 2 Train Heist gets my vote as well, as it's my most played game.
Something about it that makes for an exciting feature, esp when the multi goes high.
Now all I need is a line of sheriff's stars to drop in!

Just gave the demo a spin and this is a great call. Used bonus buys which we don't have in the uk. Does it bonus frequently or is it hard to get naturally?

I don't even like megaways but would play this one for the bonus. The 5 demos I ran had 4 go over 30 spins which was fun to see. Just like the DOA2 train heist.

I was also surprised that the bonus buy was only 50x and 3 out of 5 returned around 85x, 90x and 100x. The other two were also around 25x and 30x which is not bad. Maybe it was just random timing and they can be crap too!

I looked up a review site to see what the max win is and there were comments complaining that this one sucks because of no multiplier etc. like other megaways bonuses. Thought that was hilarious because this mechanic would really create a cashpoint/ATM slot if they had included that as well 😄

You've probably had loads of near misses but I've only had one in the year I've played. I think that was either sheriff or guns 3OAK but the 4th reel had the wild one spot out with the 5th reel having the other gun or sheriff!

Is the train heist max win 100,000x? I thought I saw 1000x somewhere but I just checked netent site and it says train heist is 100,000x. Just wanted to confirm.

Was quite happy my best win being 530x as I thought it was half way. Now it seems sad 😁

You're not in game dev by any chance? ;)

I've played BBB quite a lot. Bonus frequency usually seems higher than most other BTG games.

Yeah, it's pretty rare that it returns single digit factor returns.

The people who commented must not understand multiplied wilds. I think there's 2, 3, and 5x wilds.

LOL, yeah, if BBB's bonus game had a base multiplier per connection it'd be ridiculous.

BTG games seem hard to bonus so I'm not sure now whether to try it for real. If we had bonus buy in the uk I would use that. Pretty reasonable for 50x.

Shame as it seems like a bonus round I would like.

I think bonus rounds trigger more frequently in BBB cause they're less volatile (no cumulative multiplier, symbol values aren't as high as Bonanza and the like, etc.).

OK, I misunderstood. Thought higher bonus frequency as in 1 in x being higher! I was thinking if Bonanza is 1 in 400 what the heck is this one 😄

Good to know, will give it a go at some point then. Thanks

The game is decent. It's not as exciting as others with cascading reels, but it's not a bad game.

A few years ago when the slot was reasonably new I had 5 cowboy hats on around a x10 multiplier on Train Heist is it? It paid around £220 on a 0.36 stake. At somwhere like Casino Euro or Mr Smith Casino here in the UK.

I thought the max win on DOA2 was 111,111 but that'd be on the high variance bonus round I assume not the train heist?

I LOVE the train heist bonus too! I always pick it even though I know it's smaller wins because the WILDS never drop for me on the high variance bonus and I know it's incredibly hard to win. Problem is when you start chasing the big multipliers every time!

The highest I ever got was 51x but it was a bit disappointing really-around £300 on a 90p stake which might sound good, but not with that multiplier. Didn't get any decent wins and had about 15 completely dead ones in the middle of that and not likely to get 51x again so was a bit deflated at the end of it.

I thought that too but on Netent site it says different. Maybe they put it in the wrong place.

I had the "slots play better the first time" with this one on the demo i reckon 😄

Gave it a spin for real last night and took a while to get a bonus but the base game is pretty good.

Played it a couple times and got 4 bonuses ended up writing the results down. 16 spins 16x, 12 spins 7x, 22 spins 56x, 20 spins 19x. None of the 30+ spin and decent x returns I got first time on demo!

Ended up trying the demo again just to check and the bonuses were bad too so no conspiracy there! Should have spun it first time for real, wasted my first go luck 😄

I like it for a megaways so will give it a go now and again.

The volatility of the game is a little weird cause of the mutliplied wilds. I've probably put about 10,000 spins through it and I think the biggest base game return I've seen was ~100x. I think the biggest bonus game return I saw was ~500x.

Even if you get a ton of spins in the bonus round and reach the max megaways tier, it's one of those games that usually finds a way to only give a little bit with max megaways. Still entertaining though.

I experienced the same with the high noon bonus. Never get anything when I've tried it. I gave up on doa2 at first but then read comments about train heist and it became my go to slot. Would have been great if netent had made it a separate game with a better bonus frequency.

Think my max multi is around 40x but I had an even worse round so your return was pretty good imo! Worse is when you get a completely dead round and then think "might as well have done the max win one"!

@2Slots hmm wonder if they got that wrong. I can't see the train heist one coughing up the max win on the slot. Too bad at maths to work out what multiplier and win line you'd even need lol. The wilds aren't sticky though which is what gives the high noon one the mega huge win potential.

I'm saving up to play the high noon bonus when I've got more money and don't mind all the dead bonuses for the chance at that life-changing money. Train heist is just super fun right now-know what you mean though sometimes it's so disappointing and you're like where are the wilds, I thought this was supposed to be low volatility!

After posting that image I thought maybe it was a typo and its supposed to be 1000x or 10,000x maybe?

Can you imagine how long it would run for to be 100,000x! Would be there for hours or days 😄

Good luck with the high noon. I always think to try it but I'm lucky to see one or two wilds the times I've tried. I think I might have once got around 150x.

So after mentioning in here that I got 5OAK bottles with 1x once, tonight I hit it with 18x multiplier. I never take screenshots but it took so long to count up I thought to do it and share it here. Returned 524x total almost beating my record 533x.
