48% of Adults Engage in Gambling, 2024 Gambling Survey for Great Britain Shows

The results of the latest Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB) are just in, and they show a significant number of Brits are no strangers to gambling.
In fact, out of a total of 19,714 respondents, 48% of adults in Great Britain have gambled in the last month (including the ones who only dabble in the lottery). Even though we’re talking about just a sample of the entire British population, if we take a look at the results from a bird’s-eye view, the findings suggest that one in two people habitually gamble.
Most of those people (42%) have described their gambling experience as a positive one, but 21% of players marked it as clearly negative. With the majority of surveyors (85%) gambling because they believe they’ll win a hefty prize, while 72% of people get a thrill from it, the question remains whether the negative sentiments naturally come when those big wins don’t materialize.
Anyhow, on top of all the other findings, the people behind the entire study have also managed to highlight the risk profiles among the players who gamble week in and week out. With all this data under their sleeves, now they plan on tweaking future regulatory policies and standards.
Let’s see how the UK gambling landscape transforms, all in the name of safe gambling.
