Poker May Soon Become Legal in Thailand

We may soon bid farewell to the days when playing poker in Thailand was against the rules. To a certain extent, at least.
Interior Minister Phumtham Wechayachai just signed an order that allows poker to be played in controlled settings. This is essentially a euphemism for international poker tournaments that are to be organized in Thailand.
But, despite the Thai government softening the rules a bit, Wechayachai went on to say that Thailand still doesn’t approve of any type of gambling. People still won’t be able to play poker casually, let alone at online casinos. It’s just that the government has begun recognizing poker’s place in the world of competitive sports.
And they probably also want more tourists coming in. But that’s just our two cents.
