Question New to online play (grosvenorcasinos)

For years I have always frowned upon gambling on-line, casinos rigged, won't get paid, that sort of thing.

Few weeks ago I checked out a few on-line sites, Dublinbet which is suppose to be a real casino, game to fast for me, besides that would rank as the strangest real casino I've ever seen. I've never seen Chinese people play emotionless at any casino. So I checked out Gala and 32Red, I didn't sign up for because I disliked the fact they burnt a card after every hand on the Baccarat tables. So I settled for grosvenorcasinos.com which is based in Latvia. A UK operation I thought for a world-wide audience, but reading the terms and conditions you have to be based in the UK or Guernsey. Anyway it suited me as I could link my land-based rewards card.

Real dealers, you can watch the shuffle, the cards being pulled, 8 decks which I prefer, however I get the same number of hands as a 6 deck game due to the number of cards they cut off from the shoe. A down-side is that you have no idea if the decks are true.

The thing is, I consider myself a pretty decent Baccarat player, yet when playing on-line I have never struggled so much compared to playing in a bricks 'n' mortar joint. It has me really spooked, when you think you have won a hand on a natural, you lose 9-8, or Tie, I've never seen so many hands promoting to 9. I have probably played five figures of Baccarat shoes over the years, don't know if it's a combination of my previous paranoia about on-line gambling, but this game freaks me sometimes. It is like every session is an absolute struggle, what I can achieve land-based takes me twice as long on-line.

So why don't I just play in land-based casino's. Basically I like the newly discovered convenience, my local casino doesn't get going until 9:30pm and I end up playing solo for for the first few hours in a place where they don't give free hands or let you bet both sides. So on-line is a better game for me all round. Besides I ended up dropping a packet two weeks ago, frustration playing it's part, which I am striving to recoup. However my confidence is draining pretty fast. Anybody play on-line at grosvenor? I'm not saying it isn't above board, I don't trust casinos on-line or land-based period, I've learnt over the years it is best to keep your wits about you where money is concerned.

I did have a hunt around this forum for grosvenor and couldn't find any references, so I thought I would sign up and share my thoughts.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have never played at that casino nor do I play baccarat.

What I can tell you is that they are an accredited casino with one of the top scores so if you run into any problems there should be a rep here you can contact to get things fixed.

There are plenty of posts in the forum about them so easiest way to check is to go to the google custom search box on forum page just located under logout on the orange line. Simply type in Grosvenor and it will give you a list of all posts about them where you can read and maybe find what you are looking for.

I think I signed up some time back but I do not play there, Not for any reason but just that there's so many to chose from, They have a good few casinos in the U.K,

They are accredited here, Alow you do not hear much from them probably goes to show there a good outfit,

i have played grosvenor many times, the site pretty good , but they dont have a active rep here , i was well on my way to become a vip player , lots of problems with bonuses not working arron is the (aff) he has tried to help but in the long run you cannot get hold of anyone quickly within this group , my account has since been closed due to not getting fast reply to normal questions although they have a very good rating this needs to be looked into , regards payments i had a few which was late but that was down to a staff problem after this was cleared up they were pretty fast )

Remember the online casino games are simulations of the land-based ones and like the land ones they do meet the TRTP of the game, but in a programme-based randomness as opposed to 'natural' randomness. This can result in unnatural-looking 'streaks' in your play. I played online BJ once, and once only. Put it this way, the 'dealer' had such a lucky pack of cards that had I been dealt AK I would've only hoped for a tie. After a succession of hands that stretched the credibility of natural luck and randomness to hitherto unimaginable mathematical odds I left. I cannot bring myself to even consider playing again.
So, I would definitely recommend as you have done, playing the live-dealer versions for a more natural game with no computer algorithms involved...

Hi dunover, Would you mind explaining "TRTP of the game", I don't know what this means, or the difference between programme-based randomness versus natural randomness. Without knowing precisely what you are referring to, I would tend to agree, a very definite "unnatural-looking" streaks are produced.

As you know in land blackjack there is a shoe which may have 4-8 packs of cards and therefore you get used to playing to the sequences that produces. The online version may have an unlimited shoe and can thus produce what you would consider 'odd' sequences if you are used to playing land BJ.
So, the card-counter or 'pro' BJ player will not enjoy the same success at the online version. The online version seems to produce more dramatic peaks and troughs on the RTP curve than the land version.

Another reason that online BJ players see wider variations is the speed of the game vs real life.

You will see far more deals per hour online so the peaks and troughs will be more obvious.

Grosvenor are solid, but I fell out with them a little as they demoted me from a VIP member after many years of playing there when I couldn't log in for a few weeks.

they didn't tell me they'd done this until the next time I logged on!

Playing the live dealer does allow you to play into the pack but as MrBac says the cut card is not as deep so you don't get as many cards to play, Obviously counting is easier playing Live dealer games.

Not quite sure why you brought this up - seems to have only confused the poor chap!
He quite clearly stated that he was playing a LIVE DEALER online game, so talk of "simulations", "programming" and "unlimited shoes" don't come into play here.

I am finding this with a on-line live dealer. I can get up so much and can not progress further. Win a lot of shoes, but once you hit a certain threshold, you get battered by natural scores or promoting to 8 or 9 on the other side and you run into 6 or worst losses in a row. It really is uncanny, meanwhile the dealer is smiling at the camera

I've played at alot of online live casinos and I like the games at Grosvenor as they use Evolution Software and have a range of dedicated tables.

I play mostly blackjack and I have the same experiences at both land based and online live games. I've just returned from a week in Vegas and on some days I couldn't do anything wrong, the cards seemed for me and I came out ahead. I had a few days where it was a struggle to keep my chip stack and others where it didn't matter what I did the dealer always seemed to draw 21 and I'd bust out pretty quickly. That's also been my story online.

Personally I don't hold with the theory of deck fixing and the like, I can see the shoes taken to the tables I can see them being shuffled and I can see them being cut. I don't like burn cards, I understand why they do that to show that the deck isn't fixed, but I'd prefer a clean deck each time. I certainly don't like to Shufflemaster shoes where you effectively get a fresh shoe for each hand but they are becoming more popular because the casinos can deal more hands per hour and also say that they reduce casino and player fraud!.

Saying that I hunt out the games for the features I like and there are plenty of Live casinos out there that have different game rules that might suit your play better. Each of the software providers (Playtech, Microgaming, Wirex, Global Gaming Labs, Smart Live, Net Entertainment Vuetec, Amaya and Visionary iGaming to name a few), offer something different.

You've said a few times that you don't trust online or land based casinos, so why play? Perhaps you're just going through one of those phases hat we all get when the bad beats seem to happen every session. Take a break for a while and come back later, you may see a turn round in fortune.

This is bad news, the web-site which appears to have been severely streamlined (fewer tables, original faces gone), site constantly crashes. At least twice per week the gaming server goes down, real pain pain in the ass...

Just wondering if they participate in threads so you can whinge openly. It certainly looks like their operations have been scaled back, they used to have separate VIP tables, the women were nicer dressed, one looked like a younger version of angelina jolie. Now the VIP tables are the same as the other tables but with higher table limits and you get an extra 5 seconds to choose your bet, 20 seconds instead of 15 seconds for the scruffs

But the regular server crashes are the biggest bone of contention, they must have invested a lot of money into this, as its promoted heavily in the bricks 'n' mortar casinos, but at present seems like an amateur outfit..
