We’ve talked about this problem before but these days it’s getting ridiculous so we’re going to get specific about who exactly the offending casinos actually are. Name and shame!
The problem is that some really shady casinos are in the habit of creating this scenario to entrap players and steal from them:
GrandSlotPalace (grandslotpalace.com): player supposedly won $500K+ and had over 20 withdrawal requests pending for over a year, casino asked for a large Bitcoin deposit from the player before they could receive their winnings.
Berspin (berspin.com): "I won a little and wanted to withdraw $1200, they insisted on a $70 deposit as KYC Verification ... Support claimed it would be the only step. ... [later] they insisted I pay another $150 to confirm wallet ownership." In the end the casino went silent and the player received nothing.
Stumla (stumla.com): player won a handsome amount and attempted to withdraw, "the casino is claiming that I need to pay an additional $200 to 'verify' that my deposits came from my crypto account. They are refusing to let me access my winnings unless this payment is made ...". The casino is no longer responding to the player and ignored the complaint we submitted on their behalf.
GamaCasino (eg. gamacasino480.com): Player was told they'd won the equivalent of US$142,000 but that fees would have to be paid in order to receive payment: US$25 to "verify the account", US$60 to "validate the deposit method", then another US$60 because "the security service requires double authentication", and then "you need to pay a commission of 12%". The player didn't pay the commission whereupon the casino stopped responding.
GoldBetSpin (goldbetspin.com): Player won back-to-back jackpots for a total of US$30,000 but after paying a US$55 "mandatory withdrawal fee", US$170 to "verify Bitcoin" and another US$170 because something had supposedly gone wrong with the first attempt, the casino simply stopped responding to email, chat or any other means the player tried.
What’s the problem?
The problem is that some really shady casinos are in the habit of creating this scenario to entrap players and steal from them:
- claim the player has won a bunch OR intervene when the player has won a nice amount.
- tell the player they need to pay to “validate” their account, or “verify” their payment method, or pay for “VIP Status” to get paid sooner, etc.
- these are not small demands, usually well more than the US$10-20 actually required to accomplish what they claim, sometimes as much as US$100 or more.
- once the player pays they will see they have someone who believes their fraudulent nonsense and will often demand more money for something else, or “second verification” or whatever. It’s just another demand for money.
- sooner or later the player will have had enough and start refusing, or the casino will decide they have enough from the player and, either way, communication stops: the casino is no longer responding.
Who are the culprits? Read ‘em and weep
