GENERAL WARNING Beware of casinos requesting large deposits to unlock or release player winnings

One of the great things about working in the player complaints area is that we get to see fairly early on what new scams and trickery players are being subjected to. And so it is we have a new scam to bring to our reader’s attention:

If a casino tells you you’ve won a shedload of money — millions in many cases — and asks you to make a deposit to “release” or “unlock” your winnings, or “verify” your identity, are you being scammed?

We’re seeing a lot of this lately and the answer is simple: if the requested amount is anything more than £$€10-20 then the answer is likely “yes, you are being scammed”, and the casino is simply trying to get good money from you by promising winnings that don’t exist: don’t do it!

Why might a legitimate casino ask you to do this? Asking you to make a SMALL deposit on demand allows the casino to look at the money trail and verify that you are who you say you are and your money is coming to them through recognised channels. In other words it’s a KYC thing and there is no reason to be alarmed. But the key word here is “small”, £$€10-20 being the norm. And this should only be necessary once, or at least once in a long while.

Why might a fake, crooked or outright rogue casino ask you to do this? The casino is either asking you to bankroll your own winnings — you pay for your own withdrawal — or they are simply trying to steal money from you before they deny you access to your account and/or the winnings you supposedly accumulated. In the course of our PAB (Player Arbitration) work we have seen both scenarios but as of late 2024 and early 2025 it has been more the latter, outright fakery in order to steal player deposits.

See here for a forum discussion on this topic: How abnormal is “make deposit” in order to withdraw winnings? - Casinomeister Forum

WARNING: if a casino is asking you to make a deposit over £$€10-20 in order to “release” your winnings you should stop immediately and research this casino, they may very well be trying to steal from you. Large “verification” deposits are not required by legitimate casinos: asking you to make LARGER deposits — £$€50-100 or more — is extremely suspicious and you are in danger of being scammed by a rogue casino.

If this is happening, or has happened, to you please post here to name the casino: this will alert other players and help bring this rogue casino activity to a halt.

It's one of these.

Good thing is these posts usually rank on Google index whilst the actual sites themselves don't.

Bad thing is people find these on social media not Google which im guessing was where you found em

I get them on YouTube shorts, regularly.

I have this exact thing happening to me from vavada casino. First deposit 50 then they said another 150 to withdraw my $48000 in winnings. I am not doing the second deposit

It's a scam. You shouldn't have even paid the first $50, which if you had been fortunate enough to see this thread in time you clearly wouldn't have done. Take a look at this thread for a better description of this fraud:

What was the url of the website, could you check your history?

Vavada is a slightly large casino and appears to recently have had many imposter sites running this kinda scam. Atleast based off a few complaints on other sites. One such complaint had someone win $200,000 of a $50 free voucher. Sound familiar.

It's probably not worth its own post but it would be good to confirm if this was another website impersonating an existing casino and could be a sign of a wave of sites pretending to be sites that already have a reputation to their name (Although in the case of vavada, pretty neutral/not positive)

Myjackpotjoy com is telling me i need to deposit 300$ to verify my wallet when i already sent 150$ to verify my account can anyone help me with this

STOP NOW! You are being scammed, you never won anything other than demo credits, you will get paid nothing and your money paid thus far is burnt.

Back in old days I would be asked to make a deposit from a credit card, but it would be very small. I guess now it's 10-20 so you also can request the withdrawal.

Might be slightly larger amounts for crypto though, as many people use exchange wallets where minimum withdrawals can be 20-50 but that was my experience several years ago.

But I would say the reasons are always upfront. For verification or wallet identification. If it's for an "unlock" or to "Release", well, that's not right.

Stop! Request account closure and refund.

Ah, just seen you post in here now. Very unlikely the PAB service will therefore be able to help you. Do not deposit anymore monies to this casino.
I have requested them to refund my 300$ i have deposited so im not expecting to get my money back but i will let you know what they say.

i also received a $250 after regestering at vegas-casino . win and am sked to deposit $100 to be verified so that i can withdrawal

So , slotsaddle.com is a scam? :(

betcas.us which says is operated by145353 medium rare limited offers $ 1000 to sign up with and requires you to play through that $1000 dollars first and any winnings there after are able to be withdrawn but only after a $200 kyc deposit verification process....I signed up got the 1000 and played through and while playing 20 dollar betts I hit for 19,000 and then from there proceeded to play plinko at 2560.00 a ball and was able to work my winnings up to 130,000.00??????????????????any advice os greatly appreciated

Hello. Betcas.us looks like a completely fake and bogus site: a legitimate site does not hide everything behind a registration wall. I wouldn’t advise giving them a nickel as your chances of ever getting anything from them are very poor indeed.

same logo as all the other copy and paste scams. The real playojo has completely different branding.

Is that the first time they've done a name of a huge brand without alterations, aside from the top level domain, I wonder?

A total scam. DO NOT PAY A PENNY!

These fraudulent scam sites are habitually imitating the trade names of legitimate ones to gain credibility. PlayOJO are a legitimate casino, they have a rep on here. The site you've played at has piggy-backed their good name.

They also use the name of Stake's holding company and again are nothing to do with them.

@EGO

A scam, run a mile - now.

Thank you guys almost lost a lot

Can anyone tell me if myjackpotjoy.com is legit or not?

Bent as a 9-dollar note my friend. They've piggy-backed the legit UK casino Jackpot Joy's name.

Salut
I want to report
Rollwex.com

With the fakes ads of mr beast sponsorship

That site looks exactly like the bitspin.us site. They are asking for $100 deposit to verify. I thought that kinda weird so I started my research and when you Google them, bitspin is reviewed as a legit casino and a good one, but I kept digging and turns out they mean bitspinwin, bitspin.co, or bitspin365, not bitspin.us. When I saw the post on this site about the saddle casino, it was same exact layout and then I knew it was fake. I had even spoke to their support asking why such a high deposit and she gave me a long explanation about going through a third party and blah blah lies. I'm glad I came across this post and didn't go off Google saying bitspin was a good casino. Thank you for having this site.

It's no wonder so many casinos like this operate when it's pretty clear that people have just not got the sense not to send them money.

Lol these casinos could.make loads more by the looks of it by selling these customers email addresses as if they are willing to pay thousands to try and get a withdrawal who knows how much they would send to unlock the millions left to them from some Nigerian prince.

Yep, same scam. Just ignore them
Am facing same issue with one PLAMCAS.COM claiming to be licensed under the CURACAO gaming authority. I got a welcome bonus of $2000. I've accumulated over $5870043. They're now asking me to verify my account by depositing $100 before I can withdraw my winnings. Isn't that a SCAM ?

What do you think? A random casino gives you a free 2k chip, you take it up to 5m and wahey! I'm an overnight millionaire for $100 lol....

Of course it's a scam! Don't pay a cent to them.

I honestly am flabbergasted that you have to ask. A free 2k chip? First red flag. Winning over 58k, doesn’t even sound like there was a play thru. Second red flag. Now they want your money in order to give you your winnings? Hello in there. Come on.

I know one thing for sure, if you ever do play at a legitimate casino you’re gonna be sorely disappointed at the amount you actually win and actually lose while you’re playing.. And you’ll realize a $10 free chip comes with a bazillion dollars of play thru. If you get that far the most they’ll probably let you have is $50.
