Safety of Crypto Casinos

I work in the crypto space, so having my gambling be intertwined with 80% of what I’m holding, and be able to deposit and withdraw this way is really helpful. I usually also play big where I will deposit about 20-30k EUR.

The question I have is are the bitstarz, Oshi, and winz.io safe places to play at? Is there anything I should be aware of? I like that bitstarz doesn’t have a cap on withdrawing winnings a month. Whether they actually practice this is another story. I’ve read numerous reviews, including here that seem to paint them in positive lights. But in practice all these crypto casinos have shaky licenses. Whereas if a dispute arose between them (perhaps for six figures) and they withheld the money without cause, what recourse would I really have? They’re licensed out of Cyprus and curaçao from what I understand. I assume if you won too much, they could tell you to go pound sand and there isn’t much you could do about it.

Or am I looking at this wrong and they are just as legitimate as some of the bigger known names?

Check out our reviews of Bitkingz Casino and Bets.io for info on other Crypto Casinos!

Hello, Max Drayman here, I manage our player complaints service here at Casinomeister. FWIW I don't get a lot of complaints regarding those casinos and -- for Bitstarz and Oshi at least, haven't had much to do with winz.io -- any complaints I do get are resolved quite promptly.

Thanks for the reply Max. I’m just concerned that if I would win 250-500K, if it would be safe it’s once thing for a few thousand to be safe and no problems. But if six figures comes up is when I start to get concerned. Have any of the crypto casinos applied to have a Casino Meister stamp of approval?

Bitstarz is a solid organization and has enough capital to pay whatever you win legitimately. Not sure about the other ones you mentioned.

My head is usually pretty buried in the complaints stuff -- we're handling around 600 a year these days -- so I'm not the best person to ask about Accreditation requests. That said all three are Accredited here:
Oshi Casino: Legit or Scam? Casinomeister Reviews 2022 ®
Bitstarz Casino Review (2022) ✓ Highly Recommended - Casinomeister ®
Winz.io Casino Review (2022): Scam or Legit? Find out at Casinomeister

When casinos apply for Casinomeister Accreditation they go through a process called Baptism By Fire (BBF) where the casino is openly discussed on the forums for (I think) 90 days before proceeding in the Accreditation process. Those threads can be quite informative because the readership will give them a good roasting if they've encountered any issues of concern:
Oshi Casino is giving it a go! - Casinomeister Forum
Winz.io is entering the flames - Casinomeister Forum

I can't scare up the BBF for Bitstarz at the moment but there is this worth noting: Bitstarz won Best Casino in the Casinomeister Awards 2021.
Casinomeister Awards 2021 ? Best and Worst in Online Gambling

As to concerns over a big win I can honestly say that I've seen nothing at Bitstarz (nor Oshi for that matter) to indicate that you should be worried and I've been working fairly closely with them for a few years now. On a huge win you may be stuck with their payment schedules (see the Terms) -- meaning some fixed rate of payment per month -- but even that might be negotiable. Again, I haven't mentioned Winz.io only because I don't have much direct experience with them.

The bottom line when dealing with casinos from this group is that if everything is legitimate -- and yes, they can be sticklers for details -- then you'll get your money. Don't try and pull a fast one on them though because they don't mess around: they are smart, thorough and happy to give the full stick to fraudsters and cheats. None of which I have any quarrel with, FYI.

Last but not least I believe all three have representatives here on the forums -- check our Accredited Casino Reps list -- and you can ask them directly if you have any questions or concerns.

Don't know about Oshi, but Bitstarz and Winz are of the top quality. My friend plays on both of them.

- Winz has a better selection of games than Bitstarz, and their cashout limits are 400.000 a month.
- Bitstarz has no limits and has a very good VIP program.

I don't know much about their bonuses and if there are any fees when depositing or cashing out.

Hey keiser,

Regarding withdrawal limits - this 400k EUR monthly limit is primarily for "regular" (non-vip) players who can as an example deposit 20 EUR and somehow win some major 7digits jackpot, so processing such withdrawals can give us some headaches with internal transfer limits, but nothing critical.

During 2+ years of providing service we had lots of VIP players and I believe none of them had any issues with withdrawing big winnings. Our absolute record was processing 12 BTC (~500-600k at that time) in less than 30 minutes since cashout has been requested. So I doubt that playing here at Winz.io any high-stakes player will have any issues with getting his winnings in time.

Also, you can check for any complaints here on CM or on other trusted affiliate websites and you will see that basically there were no big complaints at all, as usually there are some issues on the payment provider side, or a bonus was not added, etc.. but never that we have not processed a withdrawal for no reason.

Feel free to contact our VIP manager directly through [email protected] if you will have any questions or maybe you will make some exclusive reward agreement based on your activity.

As maxd said earlier, we didn't have direct contact with them, but Jelena knows most of our team personally and we are trying to stay in touch as much as we can <3

Top UK online casinos look like a bunch of jokers compared to these sites, lol

For Casumo is also worth seeing what is going on here and taking notes!
Agreed :) it all looks now so sad amateur and very none player friendly in the UK. How the mighty have fallen.

I only play cryptos now and 3dice occasionally. Had a couple small cashouts over weekend - zero hassle - and all games available with feature buys/ turbo etc ... plus rake back on certain cryptos along with DB - beats hands down the pathetic offerings now shoved towards players in the UK market. Arm thyself with decent VPN / crytpo wallet and be able to navigate a few levels of KYC in some cases in a few others none needed. Then take your pick ) Never without risk as said before - but the only issues I have ever had have all been at UK facing Casinos - and never once ever in crypto land.

It has been only a pleasure working with all 3 above mentioned brands so far!
Super responsive and helpful teams, always ready to embrace constructive feedbacks :)

Speaking of recognitions and awards, worth mentioning is Winz's Best New Casino 2021 Meister Award as well - Casinomeister Awards 2021 ? Best and Worst in Online Gambling

All 3 brands are accredited and certified too and I personally feel relaxed and comfortable working with them, because I know if any issue comes out, they'll do their best to fix it asap :)

Max,
I know you’re busy with accreditation and complaints so I appreciate you taking the time to let me know about these crypto casinos. So if I deposit 50k € and win legitimately 500k+ (even 1 or 2 million€) I don’t need to worry, aside from their payment schedule.

Do you know what kind of documentation they’ll want being that it’s all in crypto? I’ve never dealt with a purely crypto casino so I have no idea what documents they’d want for a withdrawal.

Also, are those three companies related and skins of each other? Or are they different operations? Don’t want to register at the same casino and be accused of bonus abuse or something.

Hello keiser,

I see that you have asked Max, but if you don't mind then I will take a chance and provide some of the requested information related to Winz.io

Here at Winz.io, our absolute withdrawal record was processing 12 BTC (~500-600k USD at that time) in less than 30 minutes, but we will be more than happy to break this record by processing even bigger withdrawals for you or any other player :)

Our casino is hybrid (crypto+fiat payments), so we have similar requirements for the KYC verification procedure, where we usually ask for a Passport or ID document and Proof of Address.

Winz.io Casino is not related to any other skin and having an account at any other Dama NV casino will not affect any activity here.

Regards,
Juri | Winz.io

Don’t want to register at the same casino and be accused of bonus abuse or something.

Just to add here. The good thing about Winz.io is that all bonuses & comps are wager-free and not restricted with max-cashout, max-bet or any other rules. That's a big difference between Winz and other crypto brands mentioned. And another difference is that all slot games by all game providers are set up at max/default RTP. No nerfed RTPs.

Crypto cashouts are usually processed in a few minutes by Winz.io.

Yer would like to play here myself at winz, sadly no uk, they're always active on the forum, which is a big plus for any big punters)
Agreed I would certainly game at Winz but no way around KYC it seems as with other Cryptos. If they did open the doors to the UK market - I can imagine them picking up many new players. But alas no go.

It’s nice to see the rep from the company in the forums. Thank you for chiming in, and reassuring us of your stellar reputation. From what I gather bitstarz, Oshi, and your company winz are the most legitimate crypto casinos. Are any of the listed companies related? Do they have the same managements? Or you’re all separate websites, with separate management? I don’t want to be accused of signing up at the same website.

If I deposit 50k €, would you guys be open to taking back monthly maximum withdrawal limits? From what I can gather bitstarz has no monthly maximum which is a reassurance for a high roller like me.

Thanks

@BitStarz

Hi Keiser :)

Speaking on behalf of BitStarz here, we've got no other brands. Management at BitStarz don't own any other casinos and no other casinos have ownership in BitStarz. We are a white label however but besides perhaps using the same backend solutions as some other casinos, we run independently from them as a brand. I hope that answers the question :)

To answer your second question (or rather confirm what was stated) BitStarz don't have any withdrawal limit :)

Wish you the best of luck at the casino of your choice and thank you @Najasaki for the ping!

Olle

For a big win, and I use Crypto, do they want to see my crypto wallet? I’m happy to provide the traditional KYC documents (ID, utility Bill, paystub) but when depositing with crypto and I win big how does the KYC process change?
Hey keiser,

If the casino is fully crypto and doesn't have any fiat payments (or doesn't have any license at all) then probably it will not request any real document verification. But if there is a license then there are also requirements about player verifications that can't be ignored by casinos.

So far our VIP players didn't have any issues with withdrawal limits as there are technically no limits at all.
From our side I can assure you that we will do everything possible to not give you any headache with withdrawals and these will be processed lightning-fast :)

I tried out 2 crypto based casino's today. It will be my first and last, lol.

- One of the deposits got stuck in a mempool lasting up to a half hour.
- One casino required documents, fair enough, provided them. Nowhere a message to be seen about not being able to play in the meantime. If i did'nt op for verification i could play. My deposit arrived but stuck on their platform now, basicly in their hands.
- The other casino advertised with a 100% deposit bonus. But small letters stated suddenly that you need to play / wager or basicly spunk cash and more then your initial deposit is in order to obtain that 100%. And it's only poured into bits in your account, not at full.
- Half of the games selection was unable to play because, well, i'm from a country where appearantly it's not permitted.

Ill just be going back to normal regulated casino's. I mean instant proces of payments. Clear advertising in terms of bonus. I cannot play if i have'nt bin verified and i wont be getting this nonsense afterwards. I submitted docs from "good will" and not because i was mandatory for it.

We're talking a 250$ deposit and all alarms are raised about KYC nonsense. Geezus christ.

@BitStarz, just a question. Do you provide your slot games with the highest RTPs, like Winz, or do you have different? Thanks!

View attachment 170723

Hi Guntis,

Hand on heart, to my knowledge we do not lower any RTP but keep them at the highest level. With that said, I would need to double check that so please don't quote me on it.

If there's a game in particular you want me to check, let me know, but I believe we do not change it.

Question for @BitStarz and @Winz.io casino: when I deposit using Crypto, what information do you want to see from my wallet for the deposit transaction if at all, for the KYC process?

Or would my utility bill, ID, me holding my ID, be sufficient without having to show any of the private details of my crypto wallet when wanting to verify my account for a large cash out?

Hi there,

As far as I'm aware, a proof of address and ID would be enough for basic KYC. Then again, a selfie with the ID might be requested as well.

Are there cases you want to see inside a customers crypto wallet? Do you require employment info? Past years Tax documents?

I just want to know how one totally verifies their account if I decide to deposit with you so there is never any problem cashing out, and I don’t need to run around to find documentation.

Thanks

My KYC at Bitstarz was such a breeze that it was astonishing at the time. They just asked me for a copy of my ID and a copy of a fresh utility bill.

I've been playing there for a few years now and have made several large withdraws that were all approved in a matter of minutes without further questions or requests. My gambling budget, no joke, only goes to Bitstarz because of the level of trust I have with them.

I've been with Casinomeister for 12 years now and have tried many, many different casinos and can honestly say that Bitstarz is the best.

Hey,

Regular KYC verification - ID/passport + proof of address.
If there is no big queue of pending documents then usually it takes only a few minutes to check and verify them.

Hey @keiser

After talking with my team would like to provide a quick update regarding our withdrawal limits - we paid one lucky customer 62 bitcoins in 3 days in August last year. The player made around $400M in bets that month. We take up to $25K per bet on Evolution’s blackjack for instance.

Can you share what kind of documentation this person had to provide for their successful cash out?

Yeah, as long as only crypto is involved that should be fine.
Always wondered about how this works.

Many casinos seem to hit players with real advanced KYC and SOW when they have deposited thousands. And also limit play if they think player is gambling a lot.

Yet you are saying as long as a player just uses Crypto eveything should be fine even if they have deposited and wagered millions.

Seriously maybe i am wrong. But surely something is wrong if casinos are allowing huge amounts to be deposited and withdrawn with no hard checks at all. You have no idea who the player is, where they get there money but happy to take huge amounts. Surely that is against all Money Laundering and Responsible gambling guidelines.

Is that not the point of crypto though, it's a private thing, not saying if someone gambles millions etc etc, but a few people have made some great funds via this.

Yeah that is point of Crypto. Which makes it so wrong for a casino to use it.

If every other licence is now making customers jump through hoops for a few thousand then something wrong that you can go to a crypto casino and basically do what you want. I am not one for SOW etc. and never would send it. But i also find it wrong that anywhere would let you play millions, mainly for responsible gaming aspect with no checks at all.

I believe there is nothing about AML when depositing, playing, and withdrawing only in crypto, as there is not much logic to doing such manipulations if all the transactions and crypto money owners are already anonymous.

Its quite incredible that UK casino customers are interrogated like carrying a bomb through an airport in their rectum for £20 deposits and crypto casinos can allow millions deposited with only a customer ID necessary.

Hey,

For crypto users, we typically request only a copy of their personal id and very rarely utility bill, e.g. there is suspicion over any type of fraud, but this is rare.

Regards,
Juri | Winz.io
so no suspicion over fraud you dont ask about ID and bill? one more think what RTP PNG runs ?
Winz casino looks not bad at all, if add some novomatic games like Captain Venture will be best Crypto casino

Our customers are not allowed to use VPN.

For crypto customers, documents could be requested only if there will be some "red flag" in the system that requires additional checking or if we see some funny activity, like bonus abusing and there is a connection to other accounts with similar behavior, as an example.

You are right, we don't have any Novomatic games for now, but I will forward your request to our management and maybe we will add them in near future.

thanks my next deposit I will give try p.s do you ask for doc using muchbetter app?

Maybe worth keeping an eye on slot RTP's at Crypto casinos, if you play at them.

A well known casino I occasionally play at have added two new Push Slots, Mad Cars and Deadly 5.
They've opted for a 94.44% & 94.35% instead of the top 96.39 RTP.
Although the rest of their Push slots remain unchanged at the highest RTP... for now!

A good thing about Push slots is they display the RTP in the upper left corner on loading or I'd have been none the wiser.

Hey, somehow I have missed this message, so will respond with a delay.

I believe there is no big reason for using muchbetter or any other fiat payment method, as there is a chance that documents will be required for KYC procedure.

Hey,

Good to realize that it is not our casino, as both of these games have RTP 96.39%, and if needed any game's RTP could be checked on the game page as not every game provider shares RTP on the loading screen or in any visible place.

deadly5-rtp.webp

Also need to keep in mind that some games with lower RTP could be added by mistake, so it is easier to let support know and check how they will react to that and if RTP will be changed to the original one.
